I have a brita water filter and I followed the directions when I opened the filter and soaked it for 15 minutes and I have been filtering water for a couple months now. Do I still need to keep it soaked in water all the time now? I don't always remember to fill it up so I was just wondering if it was unhealthy or not good or something...
You can always look up their website or call the company to make sure if it needs to be or not..but I don't keep mine wet 24/7 and I don't have a problem with mine at all. Makes me wonder though if you are right.

Hi there,
I have three unopened Brita Water Filter packs that I have had for like 1 year or more, are they usable? How long does an un-opened filter last usually?
Thanks
In response to one of the answers below, I don't see an expiration date on each pack
Unopened, undamaged Brita filters are good indefinitely. They do not expire.

I know that those brita filters can filter out impurities in cheap booze and make them taste alot better. I was wondering if it could filter out the alcohol in mouthwash?
I guess I phrased my question wrong.
I want the alcohol seperated from everything else in the mouthwash. So I want everything else filtered out.
No because alcohol isn't the only liquid used in mouthwash. Also filtering doesn't separate liquids only removes the solids. Oh and please don't follow up with a question asking if you can filter NyQuil. LOL!

(Los Angeles) Every now and then, the water in my brita water filter turns green at the bottom. I've cleaned the filter many times and changed the filter itself. Is my filter growing algae or something or is the filter not catching something coming out of my faucet?!!
This is the second time it's happened and I have not exceeded the lifespan of both filters. Is this green stuff going to cause me to get sick? I may have drank a cup or two without noticing.
I would guess that the green color is from copper pipes and probably not from algae unless the source is not filtering it out. Algae would only be there and green if it had a light source. It would not live without light and some food and so would be brown. Oxides of copper would be green, like an old penny, like the inside of old copper pipes which is the only material that most municipalities allow in the US for home water service. Always struck me as funny, here anyway, that the town can run PE pipe to your house, frequently from iron pipe, yet they require copper house lines with silver based soldier, no more lead (for good reason).
Basically I'm so cheap that I can't afford top shelf vodka or a Brita Filter (Note: I'm in college). So really I'm asking for a better, CHEAPER alternative to filtering vodka (assuming you believe in the whole cheap stuff thats filtered multiple times is just as goo as top shelf). Any sugestions would be great! Thanks!
Splurge for the 151... you'll need less... it'll last longer.
Otherwise, I can't imagine that 'filtering' the vodka is going to have any positive effects (probably a huge waste of time...). Perhaps you should be more creative with the mixers you choose. I've served some pretty shitty vodka in some pretty yummy drinks... And some were none the wiser.
