Better Than Brita

Answers

Which is better...PUR or Brita?

I'm trying to choose between the two water filter systems. I've been surprised though that alot of people are telling me PUR is better than Brita. What do you guys think? Thanks!

Pur advertises that they filter twice the stuff out of water than a Brita does - take that with a grain of salt, however.

I use the Pur primarily because they sell one that has a flavor cartridge in it so you can flavor the water as you pour - sugar free.

I've always been happy with the way the Pur water tastes - with or without the flavor cartridge.

Also the Pur was an oval shape and fits into the door of my fridge better - and take sup less room on the shelf if I put it there - that was a good thing in my opinion - that it takes up less space.

The Pur that i bought has a blinking LED to tell you when to replace the filter - nice so you don't have to keep track of it on the calendar - it is a constant reminder.

Would a water filter (like the ones from Pur or Brita) make tap water taste better?

The tap water in my apartment is SUPER hard. I just drank some water because I was very thirsty & didn't want to open a new water bottle tonight, and I think I'm thirstier now than before, and on top of that my mouth feels...weird. And the water smells a lot like chlorine. In a nutshell, it's pretty unpleasant. Would a water filter be a worthwhile investment? I'd probably buy a pitcher rather than one that fits on the faucet.

Yes it would be a good investment. I use the pur filter on my kitchen faucet and use it for drinking water, cooking, and also making tea and other drinks.

Anybody tried the Zero Water container?

Hi,
So, I have a brita filter for water and container, but it's got a hole in it now, and I also don't really like the taste of it. I saw an advertisement for the Zero Water filter from Target and I am wondering if that works good and if the water tastes good and how much it costs, approx. Anybody tried it?...It's suppose to be better than the Brita..

I don't taste any difference between it and the Pur I have on my tap.

Are activated charcoal water filters (e.g, Brita) safe to use?

I've heard contradictions about this so I figured I'd sollicit your opinions. Are activated charcoal water filters safe to use or does the charcoal actually seep carcinogens into the water?

I've never had a problem drinking water out of the tap but I figure if I can find ways to make it even cleaner and to remove water filtartion chemichals from it, why not?

The only problem is that I've heard that activated charcoal might actually do more harm than good. I know that as a hobby aquarist, I have never put it in my water filter since I've heard that after a certain while, it starts releasing all the toxins back into the water and adds some of it's own.

any opinions on this matter?

i do use a brita at times and you can taste a slight difference. I have no problems drinking tap or making coffee/tea with tap water.

As a former aquarium hobbyist, I do remember some filters that used activated charcoal in the filter. It wasn't much, maybe a few teaspoons inside of a filter bag, but that also had to be replaced every so often.

Am I Better Off Drinking Tap Water?

After reading research about botttled water, I'm reading that bottled water is not any better than the water from my facet. Bottled water is ridiculously expensive and all the plastic I'm buying can't be good for the environment(even though it can be recycled). Plus I read bottled water is tap water anyway.

I have started a routine of just taking my tap water and boiling it. Then I refrigerate it. It tastes much better than bottled water. My city's water comes from a regulated municipal water system (same as many bottled water companies). I live in Oregon and our tap water is pretty good.

I know tap water has some traces of chlorine and probably not so many other great things, but does boiling the water help? Should I get a filter (like a Brita) as well? I just hate spending so much money for bottled water (which is rip-off tap water anyway).

yes, many cities add stuff like floride to the water for added benefits, if your dont like the chlorine taste try leaving it your fridge loosely covered overnight

It#39;s better than pie!

I started my special ed class today. It was kind of intimidating, but I suppose that I will enjoy it. If nothing else, I learned a lot today about grading and weighting. So that's probably a good thing since I will be a teacher. Sometimes teaching stuff just stresses me out, though. I can't wait to actually have students to work with. They will be such a blessing, I'm sure.
