Clean it with Bleach, and rinse well. Algea grows when the PH level and the alkalinity level are perfect for growth.

What's wrong with my Brita water container???

I clean it often, but after a few days the container starts to turn light green inside. I clean it and clean it, but it still returns. Does anyone know what I should do to prevent this from happening anymore?


If you keep the container somehwere where it isn't dark, the green is probably algae. Try keeping it in the dark and see what happens. Algae needs light to form.

Green mold in Brita container...I gave my 11 month old son water out of it?

At 7am this morning I made my son a bottle using the last of the water in the pitcher...2 hours later I went to refill it and noticed some bright green mold/algae in the bottom.

I did not notice it when I made the bottle so can this form in just 2 hours? If not then I gave my son water from this so is he in any danger of becoming sick?

any information would be helpful. Thank you

What are those black specs that float to the top of Brita water filter containers?



They are just tiny particles of charcoal, part of the filtering system. Though not dangerous or unhealthy, I always dump the first pitcher of water after putting in a new filter.

    Last Night I Dreamt: Unsuccessful Dinner

    It felt as if we walked up and down the stairs a million times, and I started to panic about the food getting cold, but my sister put it on a hot plate, and told me not to worry. We had drinks to think about. I grabbed two half-empty bottles of soda from the fridge (a Coca Cola and a Sprite) when my Auntie MB came in the kitchen and said, "No just water."
