Does anybody who uses the Brita Maxtra jug filters notice tiny black particles in the filtered water? I think they are coming from inside the filter, and there seems to be a lot also accumulated between the filter and the jug. I change my filter every 6 weeks and clean out the jug regularly.
Does anyone know what they are and why this is happening? Is it supposed to happen? Are they harmful at all do you think?

That's normal. I've been drinking Brita water for over 10 years and it's the charcoal from the filter. It doesn't harm you in any way. Most of the time it just stays in the area on top and doesn't float into the water. Just clean your pitcher every time you use it and you'll be fine.
I got one of the Brita water filters for your fridge. You know, the pitcher with the filter in it. Well, since I got it, when I fill it up, there is little black dirt like particles in the bottom. It gets into the glass, and I end up drinking it. Is this harmful, and is this normal for one of these type of filters.
