Hi there,
I have three unopened Brita Water Filter packs that I have had for like 1 year or more, are they usable? How long does an un-opened filter last usually?
Thanks
In response to one of the answers below, I don't see an expiration date on each pack
Unopened, undamaged Brita filters are good indefinitely. They do not expire.
I do not own Brita Filters, i just use them Songs were by Bruce Springsteen Leap of faith andWeezer Pork and beans, I do not own the music
How long does it take to fill a Brita pitcher and filter the water?
Mine (filled all the way to top) takes about 3 minutes.
Assuming you're in the United States, I'll use the conversion of 1 gallon [US, liquid] = 128 ounces [US, liquid].
So at 64 ounces a day, you're only drinking 1/2 a gallon per day. According to Brita's website, you're supposed to change a Brita pitcher filter every 40 gallons. Thus, 1 Brita filter should last you about 80 days.
for the pitchers 30 to 60days for the refrigerator 6 mths
Has anyone done this? I tried running some through and it worked fantastically (made it like water) but does anyone have any expericiance with how long the brita filter survives? I think mine burned out allready and i was wondering if anyone had anything more concrete to offer to my alcoholic attempts?

Ok so I have not been using the unit that these go with for too long, just got it today. But just based on my feeling of the product, I highly doubt that they are very effective in actually filtering anything other than lint or other large debris. Its a loose felt material on the outside. The inside of it feels to be some stiff plastic or thin metal of some sort to hold the shape, with some pieces of carbon or charcoal in there. There are not a lot of actual carbon or charcoal chunks like you would see in a brita filter, and they do not do anything but sit at the bottom of the "filter" so I honestly dont see how they could do anything. We have a brita filter on our sink, so when I fill the unit, I use that and will use the rest of the 4 filters I got for the unit, but do not believe I will be purchasing more.

Yep I have seen them. One of the companies I provide support for sells them. Kind of a neat idea. I just have a reusable bottle that has marks on it. It's 20oz and I fill it 5 times a day to make sure I am drinking enough. I also put ice water in a travelers coffee cup by my nightstand so that if I am thristy in the middle of the night I have something to sip on. Anne, if you feel the cup would help you, then for sure, buy the cup. I didn't mean to suggest you would be wasting you're money. I just meant that I can't see myself shelling out that much money for a cup. But I'm poor. And I seem to do OK getting my fluids in without it. But I spend a ridiculous amount of money on vitamins because I don't like the chewables, so I buy this liquid stuff and the B12 patch, which is way more expensive than if I just chewed the things, so it's really just a matter of what works for each of...

Will filtering my cooking water through the Brita take care of that? If I have to buy water to cook beans, it sort of negates any cost savings.
