I don't think it's dangerous, but it is probably pointless because the water is not being filtered.

i am so frustrated with the brita, screw-on, faucet filter. it never screws in properly and the "handle" that you turn to screw on the filter is so poorly designed allowing only a weak grip, making it so difficult to screw it on. what a fukkking rip off?
according to my financial model, the screw on was the most economical way to get water compared to bottled, brita pitcher and those water dispensers.
why does my life suck so much?
hey "tradesprofessional", i googled you. you don't exist. the only website your name shows up is on yahoo. so stop fooling yourself about bob vila and what not.
I had the same problem. An adaptor from my local hardware store solved the problem. As for life sucking, if it didn't sometimes suck we wouldn't appreciate the non-sucky moments. So take a deep breath, go the hardware store and try to enjoy life's challenges.
i recently found a 5 gallon jug of fermented cider in my basement. (yeah) the only problem is, it appears as though the air lock broke off some time ago, and i've tasted it, it is literally dirty.(as in there is dirt in in it) is their some way to filter this stuff? would a common water filter life pur or brita work? would it still be safe to drink if i did?
sorry for typos, i ment clean/filter, and i meant like, not life.
no, but you could probably scrub your shower with it.
I have heard on talk radio shows that the Brita Filters can last for life without ever having to be changed and that it is not true that you have to replace them.
Any one heard of this before. Is it true or false.
The have a finite lifespan. How long depends on use. Some pitchers and pipeline filters have sensors for when they need replaced but you might also notice a change in the taste of the water as the filter stops working. Read the box your filter came in and see how often they recommend changing that particular model. The filters are similar to charcoal filters for fish tanks and contain a kind of charcoal that works by soaking up the bad stuff in the water. Once the charcoal's ability to soak up stuff is exhausted, the water doesn't get filtered. It's not a myth or a scam that the filters have to be replaced.
i have a question about the shelf life on a couple of common products.
do the Brita filters ever expire? there is a sale for a three pack and it would take 6 monthes to go through that many.
also, SciDiet dog food. How long does a 30 or 40lb bag last?
Brita filters have a long shelf life, if not indefinite one. Thats why you need to soak them before using. I would not trust dog food (any bag brand) for much more than a couple months. Especially after opening. Bugs and rodents are the biggest problem. Freshness would probably suffer also after opening. I store my dog food in a plastic bin and use an 80 pound bag about every 2 months.

Will filtering my cooking water through the Brita take care of that? If I have to buy water to cook beans, it sort of negates any cost savings.
