Brita Pitcher Cleaning

Answers

What are the blacks specs in my Brita filter pitcher?

They're not actually in the pictcher but in the filter part - the part you put the water in. It comes from the part that the water filters through. It kind of freaks me out. We rinsed out the filter part by "sloshing" the water around to clean out the filter but more came out. We've only had it about a month!

Make sure you soak your Brita filter in water for about 10 minutes and then rinse it off in clean water before you install it.

If there are still some carbon pieces floating in your water dump the first pitcher of water and try again.

Either way, these little specs pose no threat but they can be annoying.

Britta Pitcher Filter - HORRIBLE review!

Probably the worst review ever performed by a single man.

how do I keep my Brita water pitcher from growing algae?

everytime i clean it, won't last for 3-4 days, algae came back?

sounds like your pitcher may be pitted and you are not cleaning it enough to prohibit the growth, try some vinegar

Brita pitcher has mold?

I just bought two slim style Brita Pitcher, and I find after 2-3 days I have mold under the lid and also around the rim of the filter. I cleaned them carefully, and after 2-3 days the mold is there again. Is there a way to avoid this? Brita says we have to keep water in the pitcher to keep the filter wet. Will this be bad for our health? I am sure they are mold, not the black stuff from the filter.

You know how you're not supposed to have an aquarium or fishbowl in direct sunlight? Same thing - try not to keep the pitcher out of direct sunlight.

If the pitcher is cracked replace it otherwise soak in hydrogen peroxide and wash well. You shouldn't have a problem with gross stuff growing in the water if the water is circulated frequently. If the water starts to get older you can water plants with it.

Alternately, you could store the pitcher in the fridge.

brita water pitcher cut my hand?

i purchased a water pitcher from target (it was a brita classic water pitcher) and when i opened it it says to clean it before usage. so when i was about to clean the clear part i was holding it in one hand and had just stuck in my hand to clean the inside and the handle snapped and dug into my hand causing it to bleed. i called target and they said they would take it back but that i should call brita and tell them because i could sue for what happened, is that true? im really quite angry about how cheaply this was made. thank you!

with millions of them out there, if there really was a problem, you'd think it would happen more often.
maybe someone else bought it, broke it, and returned it.
target wouldn't have known, and if it looked okay, put it back on the shelf.
in which case, would it be fair for you to sue brita?

what's in the brita classic water pitcher filter?

What is in the filter to make the water clean is what I'm trying to say. Can you give me a wed site or where it say that on the Brita site. I looked very where but i cant find it.

It is on the Brita website, under Support: FAQ at: http://www.brita.com/us/support/faq/pitc her-faq/

Here is what it says as to what is inside the filter cartridge:

What ingredients are found in a Brita® Pitcher Filter?
The Brita® Pitcher Filter contains activated carbon and an ion-exchange resin. All of the ingredients in the filter have been approved by the Water Quality Association. As you may know, activated carbon is widely used in the food and medical industry. Its function in Brita® Filters is to reduce the chlorine (taste and odor)1. The activated carbon utilized is made from coconut shells that have been subjected to a special heating process that produces a large surface area capable of maximum absorption. The ion-exchange resin acts like a magnet and reduces mercury, copper, cadmium and zinc1.

Acme Instant Food: THE GREAT VODKA EXPERIMENT OF 2006

The Great Vodka Experiment of 2006 was a failure. It was a rocket launched without a target, a goal, or even an audience who wanted to watch the devastation. I take full responsibility for my lack of focus and strict vision to see the experiment through to the end. I could also blame the vodka but that would really be taking the easy way out. The goal of The Great Vodka Experiment of 2006 was to verify the result of an experiment carried out by other pioneering bloggers. Fletcher, Ken, Adam, Dawn (the sober note-taker) and Tessa (the cat who unwittingly licked the glass) gathered to test if a charcoal filtering system (Brita Pitcher) can remove the stanky, aseptic, nuclear melt-down, rubbing alcohol taste from cheap swill vodka. They documented their test and its results on www.OhMyGoditBurns.com It sounded like a great reason to throw a party and a half dozen friends were invited over for...
