Brita Water Commercial?

I keep seeing the commercial where the woman is reading a book, there's a caption for it, then it goes to a water bottle. The caption is "1000 years in a landfill"

I know it's for their product. But haven't they heard of recycling?

In my area, we've been recycling plastic for atleast 15 years. Are there still areas that haven't caught on? Do you have recycling in your area? Do you recycle or still throw out your cans & plastic (a woman in my building still throws everything away)?

The Brita commercial exaggerates the effects because it's a Brita commercial, but it still has a point; even if you recycle your plastic, it still isn't a magical solution. It is only slightly better then throwing it in the garbage, and by that reasoning if it is slightly better to recycle, then it must be MUST better to not even use it in the first place.

And this is why Brita/reusable bottle is the better choice environmentally. You may have heard of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"...well, there's a reason they're in the order they're in. Reduce is the best thing you can do, and by not using plastic bottles in the first place you are significantly reducing the plastic waste and the environmental effects that go into creating the plastic in the first place.

It is much, much, much better for the environment to use a Brita pitcher and a reusable bottle every day than to use a disposable plastic bottle and recycle it.

Bpa Free- Baby Bottles? | Free Stuff For Babies

All Born Free products are BPA free, including all bottles and sippy cups. They also have glass bottles, but even the plastic ones are free. We strictly use Dr. Brown’s bottles and have considered buying the glass ones, but they are sold out EVERYWHERE here!!! Dr. Brown’s has BPA plastic bottles coming out in May. I am going to hold off until I can get those, pending on the supply around here! Good luck!

Hi,

BPA is a plastic additive that manufacturers can remove, so you’re safe with a BPA free plastic bottle.

I will tell you though, I am a mommy and worked in the childcare industry for awhile. My best suggestion is a silicone bottle. They’re the safest bottles out there. They are much easier to clean and virtually unbreakable. I used Dr. Browns for awhile, but there were just too many parts, I didn’t care much for them. Now I’m using Prince Lionheart’s bottles and they’re doing their job. No complaints here.

Green Blog » Plastic water bottle advertising campaign from Brita

Brita wants you to stop using water bottles and instead use their water filters to clean their water. While you can ask yourself what use the water filters will do, when the majority of the developed countries have an excellent quality on their water, the advertising campaign highlights one of the most pointless waste products in our society today.
