Or does it just remove the chemicals that make the water taste bad? I drink well water, and want to make it safer.
Sorry, I coundn't find an appropriate category.
This site says that the Brita filter removes Cryptosporidium.

How many times would you have to pass urine through the Brita Water Filtration System before it would just be water again? Would this even be possible? The number doesn't have to be exact, just a rough guess (several times versus several filters)
These sort of domestic water filtration systems remove very little - which isn't surprising when you consider the residence time of the water in contact with the filter is only a couple of minutes.
You could potentially do it using some sort of ion exchange resin system, but you would probably need several different types because urine contains a variety of dissolved species.
Or do you go an extra week... month... or whatever. Do they really go bad right away? Be honest :)
OK sorry..... for the people that actually have one.
I usually change it about a few days after the recommended time, because they say bacteria can become a concern.
It's written that it's not effective microbiologically.
I would like to know if it's safe to use it.
Na......the water tap filter is a bit better but for the best water one must install a whole house water filtration system to clean up the VOCs, chlorine, fluoride and other toxic crap water "authorities" put in our drinking water.
I have well water and want to use a filter system to attach to my faucet. Does any one know which one might be better? Thanks
i have a brita, but I think they're pretty much the same. I noticed the Pur filters are a bit cheaper though.
Why Tap Water is Best | Healthy and Green Living
Consumers are wasting billions of dollars a year on billions of gallons of bottled water in large part because advertising spin has led them to believe that water in a bottle is safer or better than tap water.
Truth is, tap water generally is just as safe, clean, and healthy as bottled water, and in many cases more so. In fact, the federal government requires far more rigorous and frequent safety testing and monitoring of municipal drinking water. The Environmental Protection Agency requires that utility companies test municipal water hundreds of times per month, while the Food and Drug Administration requires only one water test per week by bottling companies.
Bottled water causes many equity, public health, and environmental problems. Beverage companies often take water from municipal or underground sources that local people need. As much as 40 percent of bottled water comes from the tap. Producing plastic bottles uses energy and emits toxic chemicals. Transporting the bottled water spews pollution into the air, adding to global climate change.

Ours was not quite that expensive but it is very similar and the same brand etc (just a different model). I think ours was around $170? We had one of their other water filters and it broke and I thought maybe we would just go back to tap water, but one day of drinking our tap water put me right off that - our tap water tastes disgusting (even when boiled)! I like the fact that our water filter gives you filtered water immediately - I don't have the patience for the 'dripping jugs'. You can choose to 'chill' the water too, but we only ever use that if we have a BBQ etc. We just turn it on when we want to fill up a jug, and then turn it straight off and put the jug in the fridge to minimise the electricity use (it isn't a big electricity user, we just like to save electricity where we can). I also like the fact that we just put tap water in - no paying for water bottles that are delivered.
