I just wanted to know if a britta filter would do the same for well water as it would for city water.

I was wondering if it would help get rid of some of the minerals etc that can harm fish, and maybe help to reduse the amount of water treatments used? Thanks xx

The Britta filter will do a fair job when it's new. Just be aware that as it ages, it will begin to put back what it has removed, and even things that were never there in the first place.

Since there is no way to know if the carbon in the Britta is doing an efficient job at removing the Chlorine/Chloramine without testing it before adding it to the tank, I wouldn't bother with it personally.

There really isn't anything in tap water that will harm fish other than Chlorine/Chloramine, and actually if you remove all of the minerals from water, you would have to add something to the water to replace the minerals that the fish do need.

I soaked it according to the instructions and have gone through several pitcher but it really tastes awful. Like aspirin is dissolved in it or something.

since the filter was just replaced the old filter was letting the bad things in the water and u were used to that but now that all the bad things are being filtered out it tastes different and you body doesnt like it its more of a pshyological thing

I have a Britta jug type water filter with a timer in the lid which tells me to fit a new filter about every month.
How accurate is this device or is it designed to sell more of the very expensive filter cartridges before they are actually needed .
Without this timer how long will a filter cartridge actually work properley?

A month is about right. Over the month you will see differences in the taste and the speed of how long the water takes to filter.

I don't know how you would get orange soda to run out of your faucet.
