We tried a pur water filter on our sink and we barely used it, just to make bottles for the baby. It only lasted maybe a month if that, so when we went to buy another filter, it was outrageous. We thought if we had to replace the filter every month then it wouldn't be cheaper, but I'm starting to reconsider, maybe buy a pitcher. Those filters are expensive too, but how long do they last? Is it really cheaper to go that route?
The pitcher filters are good for about 40 gallons of water. That would last me a lot more than a month. And then you don't have to worry about the waste of the plastic bottles from the bottled water.
Also, make sure you are getting bottled water, if that is what you buy, that isn't just out of some municipal tap - just saw an article on that today.

I would like to know if using a Brita for water would work to prevent tear staining on dogs? To save money on water than to buy distilled/bottled water for a dog.
I have seen filtered water work for a friend's dog combined with a high quality grainless dog food.

Sleek Chrome detailing
Easy to switch from filtered to unfiltered water
i normally refill my brita pitcher every night because i drink lots of water daily. but this past weekend i wasn't around and my the water was in the pitcher all weekend hanging around for two whole days. when i came back i notice that there was mold growing in the water? couple of things to note: i have the brita pitcher for over a year and i wash it every time i switch the filter which is apporiximately every 1 1/2 to 2 months.
just want to know if any one seen this before behavior before and if it still safe to use the pitcher with a new filter? or should i just buy a new brita system?
It happens to mine all the time. I just dump out the water and clean it again.
It helps to use a bit of bleach when washing between filters.
Price: $29.99

Prevents bacteria growth in filter
Each filter has a 40-Gallon capacity
I just bought two slim style Brita Pitcher, and I find after 2-3 days I have mold under the lid and also around the rim of the filter. I cleaned them carefully, and after 2-3 days the mold is there again. Is there a way to avoid this? Brita says we have to keep water in the pitcher to keep the filter wet. Will this be bad for our health? I am sure they are mold, not the black stuff from the filter.
You know how you're not supposed to have an aquarium or fishbowl in direct sunlight? Same thing - try not to keep the pitcher out of direct sunlight.
If the pitcher is cracked replace it otherwise soak in hydrogen peroxide and wash well. You shouldn't have a problem with gross stuff growing in the water if the water is circulated frequently. If the water starts to get older you can water plants with it.
Alternately, you could store the pitcher in the fridge.
I want to buy right now the best brita pitcher. i have a few in mind and i would like to know which one works for you? There are new models out there and i seen bad and good reviews. Some bad about the lids opening, water leaking, over flowing, digital screen not working & saying when its time to replace filter. I never had one so i dont know.. we are a family of 4. Hubby deployed so its just me and my toddlers.
i think i have the 1 gallon pitcher and i believe its one of the newer models...it works great for me and i've never had a problem with the digital screen....i love it, i used to buy bottled water and i havent had to buy any for like 3 months...good luck choosing
Buy Cheap
Is it really cheaper to buy a brita pitcher, than bottled water?
We attempted the pur H2O filter upon the penetrate as well as you hardly used it, usually to have bottles for the baby. It usually lasted may be the month if that, so when you went to buy an additional filter, it was outrageous. We suspicion if you had to reinstate the filter each month afterwards it wouldn’t be cheaper, though I’m starting to reconsider, may be buy the pitcher. Those filters have been costly too, though how prolonged do they last? Is it unequivocally cheaper to go which route?

We have a Brita filtered water pitcher that we use to filter our drinking/cooking water. We also have our own water bottles that we refill after drinking.
