everytime i clean it, won't last for 3-4 days, algae came back?
sounds like your pitcher may be pitted and you are not cleaning it enough to prohibit the growth, try some vinegar

I just bought two slim style Brita Pitcher, and I find after 2-3 days I have mold under the lid and also around the rim of the filter. I cleaned them carefully, and after 2-3 days the mold is there again. Is there a way to avoid this? Brita says we have to keep water in the pitcher to keep the filter wet. Will this be bad for our health? I am sure they are mold, not the black stuff from the filter.
You know how you're not supposed to have an aquarium or fishbowl in direct sunlight? Same thing - try not to keep the pitcher out of direct sunlight.
If the pitcher is cracked replace it otherwise soak in hydrogen peroxide and wash well. You shouldn't have a problem with gross stuff growing in the water if the water is circulated frequently. If the water starts to get older you can water plants with it.
Alternately, you could store the pitcher in the fridge.
This relates to our Brita pitcher which is kept in the fridge.
do u clean the pitcher it self, only asking because i clean mine when i switch the filter evey month, and i know what your talking about cause i had the same problem, and i used a bottle brush and that seems to work

This is not meant to be bragging on myself. The aforementioned question is simply one that has been asked more and more lately.
-Maintenance: I use ponies as a lawnmower. They are even more precise than a weed-eater around edges. I use their manure in my compost. Plus, there is no labor involved for mowing, and they make interesting pets.
-Energy: I have a wood-stove for heat, which is quite efficient and keeps my electricity bill below $60 in the winter, even with more electronics than I should probably have running and having Christmas lights for a month. I use the equivalent of one to two trees for heat each winter.
I now have energy saving light bulbs in almost every room (the most used rooms). I use only what lights are necessary at the moment.
-Transportation: My car can get over 30 mpg, while still performing adequately. I’ve added extra upgrades (air filter, muffler, cold air intake, etc,) that are supposed to make it more efficient. I do notice a difference in fuel consumption since the upgrades have been added (along with some slight performance bonuses).
I use tires which have the highest treadwear rating (they last a long time, even with having good traction).
-Consumables: The house has it’s own well, with it’s own pressure filter. I have a Brita filter pitcher, and use water from the well for drinking water. I use reusable bottles when it is required to have water afar (hiking and stuff).
I am starting my first garden this year. I am using my own compost from kitchen scraps, manure, leaves, etc.
-Garbage: This is my worst environmental aspect. Even though we recycle glass, aluminum, and plastic, we have no trash service so we burn our remaining garbage. I would like to build some kind of incinerator/burning pit that has at least a make-shift filter on it to reduce my air pollution.
-Influence: I have spread influence over my family. My father has bought a hydrogen generator for his truck. He requires a rather large truck for his job. My family utilizes his truck as “the family’s truck” so that it is all that is necessary for the entire family to complete big tasks. My parents also have energy saving light bulbs... not to mention that my father works for a clean energy industry.
-Future Plans: I am very interested in building a mini-windmill. If it produces enough power to nearly power my two-bedroom house, I might build a few more and make profit from them... if I can afford one at all.
Some do better in certain areas many are doing much worse...
Overall I would say you are doing exceptionally well hopefully you do try not to have to much in the burn pile though.
Oh yeah you probably already know about it but if you want some info for your windmill you might check this site
I have a 30 gal. aquarium with an oscar in it, have had it about a year now. For a while I had a very territorial convict in there also who would bite whenever I tried to siphon the gravel. Couple weeks ago I noticed the water starting to take on a greenish hue. Never happened before, so I figured it was because of the lack of cleaning/water changes. I got rid of him and have been changing the water more than usual trying to get rid of the green color and it always comes back. Tonite I noticed the same green tint in my Brita pitcher and realized it was a sort of slime that was developing in the water.
Two questions: Who is the proper government entity to call regarding the quality of my tap water?
If it's definitely something in my tap water and it's something that can't/won't be "fixed," how can I keep my fish tank clear??
I understand the answers about algae, but the thing I don't understand is why it's happening now all of a sudden, after I've had the tank for almost a year.
Usually this is a sign that algae is flourising in your tank. For the most part algae wont harm your fish although its unsightly. Algae needs stuff to grow this can be uneatten foods or theirwaste. So if your tank has alot of algae its not the best conditations for fish. To reduce the algae try turning the lights off for a few days.Reduce the Nutrients amount in the water by changing the water more often. You can do partial water changes to remove the extent of algae in your tank.If that doesn't work can take a more aggressive action.Algae grows best in water and tanks that may have to much fish waste to be healthy for your fish. If real thick could cause respiratory problems.
CVS Deals Week of 2/14/10
The covergirl B1G1 coupon says face product. Does anyone know if this would include lip gloss or is it just coverup and foundation? Has anyone tried using it on lip products? Any info would be great. My CVS has very rude and hard to deal with cashiers. I have tried being super friendly and they just act like me using coupons is a hassle for them so I try to no use things I question myself. If anyone has tried it on the lip products please let me know.
