Little Green Dots In Brita

Answers

Does anyone have green dots in their brita water filter?

I took out my old brita filter, and the four holes in the bottom had green dots in it, not just the black I was expecting for the carbon. So I thought it was mold. I bought a new package of filters, and ALL FOUR fillters had the green little balls in them. Does anyone else have these little green balls in their filter ( in bottom four holes) . Is yours just black ( carbon) and I thus have mold?? Help!!!

I've been using a Brita water filter pitcher for several years, and I don't recall ever seeing green dots in the filter cartridges. Their FAQ section says spare filters should be kept in a cool, dry, place, but they should last indefinitely.

You can send Brita's customer support a question at http://www.brita.com/index_us.html , or call them: 1-800-24-27482. (This is contact info. for U.S. customers.) Ask them what's going on! If they say this is normal, please post that info. Thanks.

The largest concerns are germ control and cleansing effectiveness, which can be accomplished without toxic chemicals. Here are a few tips on how to clean without chemicals (or, at least to decrease their use in your home). Julie Kinnear, MLS listings expert famous for her environmental approach, will share few tips with you!

First Activity: Microwave

With hard left over spills, food bits, dirt and grease your microwave needs cleaning inside and out, otherwise the mess will start to smell and be hard to clean. Slice lemons and oranges and deposit them in a bowl of water before placing them inside the microwave - a tip from hygiene professionals from Britain. Cook on full power for about 5 minutes before wiping clean with a soft cloth or sponge and you will notice how easy the debris wipes away due to the steam made. (The oranges absorb the grease while the lemon eliminates odours) Water from a damp cloth will give off steam if the bowl and citrus fruit method can’t be done - a note for safety: always use a damp cloth as dry cloth could cause a fire. The rag needs to be left in the microwave for a few minutes for maximum result.

From the study of his run down house, David B. Smith pointed to where the sea crashed against the west coast of Scotland. "Out there," he said, "is Ailsa Craig." Not even a dot on the horizon could be spotted, but the 73-year-old retired judge and curling historian extraordinaire knew the exactlocation of the island that supplies the granite for the Olympic curling stones.

Ailsa Craig is little more than a one square kilometre volcanic plug in a nature reserve in the Firth of Clyde coastal waters, but it has mythical status in curling circles. Ailsa Craig equals Common Green plus Blue Hone: the two types of granite needed to make superior curling stones. Aficionados deem all other rocks inferior to their black dotted 'gold' from this Scottish island.
