The best system for removing flouride is a reverse osmosis system. Brita systems do not remove flouride - they remove chlorine and not much else. As far as pharmacuticals are concerned - the book is still out on that. I believe that alot of pharmacuticals can be removed by reverse osmosis, but extensive testing in the industry for every drug has not been done yet, so until we know, it will be hard to know what's in our water.

In most cases, performance data for RO units does not specify the amount of reduction provided by the product. Ever-pure does say that their under the counter kitchen faucet water filter reduces lead to the Federal Action Levels. If the lead level in your home is above the federal action level, you need ion exchange. That step removes more than 99% of lead and copper, exchanging them for good tasting and healthy electrolytes, primarily sodium and potassium.
