My roommate and I are lazy as hell, AND broke. We have a Brita water pitcher and I swear the filter has been in there for at least 8 months, maybe a year. I just want to know if there's a risk of getting sick or poisoned by not changing those little buggers out every 3 months like the box suggests.
We seem fine now.
The filter has pulled out all the contaminants it can. So it is no longer filtering the water. However, since you have maxed out the effectiveness of the chemical component of the filter, not only does it slow the rate at which water passes through the filter, it is also 'washing' the water over the excess contaminants.
If you are not going to replace the filter, you are better off removing the entire thing and allowing yourself to use the entire pitcher.
City Limits - Save the Bay: Jamaica#39;s Disappearing Marshes (Nov 10 ...
On a chilly afternoon late last month, John McLaughlin was talking about oysters, algae and nitrogen with a group of scientists in the back of a boat touring Jamaica Bay, New York City’s 25,000-acre estuary nestled between JFK Airport, Starrett City and the Rockaway peninsula.

The rapid disappearance of the bay’s distinctive marsh islands has a lot of people very worried. A report by the Jamaica Bay Watershed Protection Plan Advisory Committee – a 7-member panel comprised of federal government officials, academics, and environmental activists – estimated...

What moves would you make if you were in charge of Clear Channel's West Michigan properties? Leave a comment below.
It's a crazy time in Grand Rapids radio.
In a matter of just 24 hours, three well-known media professionals are no longer employed due to some major shakeups at Clear Channel West Michigan.
The latest casualties: WOOD-AM (1300) morning co-host John Matlack and traffic reporter Robb Westaby. They join Sabrina Fairchild from WOOD-FM (Star 105.7), who was let go on Monday morning shortly after her on-air shift with co-host Steve Kelly.
Matlack said he was delivered the news right after his on-air shift today. He said the decision came from the corporate level.
"There have been a lot of financial concerns by corporate, and there have been other cuts that have been made, and I'm just one more West Michigan worker cut by a big company far away," Matlack said Tuesday afternoon from his home, where he was decorating his Christmas tree.
