Carbon block is much more expensive, but is it better?


Whicih one works better?

They work equally good as far as cleanliness. The reverse oasmosis though has a much lower throughut, so if you drink a lot, go with the charcoal

tropical fish keep dying, please help?

i have a 60 litre tropical fish tank, which has been set up for about a year now. Water change last week, and again this week, new filter, new carbon block in filter, water fine, been tested on 2 occasions, but the fish keep dying. I had no problems then we brought some fish from what has always been a good shop, but since i put them in, the new fish keep dying and now some of my older fish are going. I don't no what else to do, i have now put some meth blue in the tank to try to see if that helps, does any one have any ideas. They are not swimming unusually, no spots, no rubbing, ok one minute and dead the next. My son is getting really upset because they are dying so quickly.

My children do not tap the glass they are 12 and 13 years old! The shop i got them from didnt understand why they were dying and tested the water and said it was fine. I am taking about 2 out a day, each day, so something is wrong, mostly the new ones.
Regarding other pets yes i do, but they dont go in the room where the fish are.


Check all your water parameters to see if anything is wrong. If your tank has been established, they are probably ok, but check, you never know it could be the heater's on too high?
The fish you introduced probably were diseased. Keep treating the tank every other day with the meth blue for 3 treatments. Slightly increase the water temp to 80.

If this doesn't work, you need to try parasite remover tabs.

Also for the future it's a good idea to use a small quarantine tank for a week before introducing your new fish to your established tank.

    The Stupid Issues And Good Ideas: Are There Really Home Water ...

    A lot of people seem to be of the opinion that home water filters won't really do enough of a job of purifying our drinking water to make them worth the expense. Then you will hear many of those same people turn around and ask, how do water filters work. It all just seems odd to me, that's all.
