i was just wondering if it has any side effects, and if it cleans water
Yes. There will be no side effects. It will remove chlorine and other gasses, as well as some organics. It will do as good a job as the carbon filters for drinking water, if not a better job. Rinse it w/ clear water to remove the powdery residue. The residue is not harmful if you swallow it. Charcoal (carbon) is an ages old remedy for upset stomach. A mixture of charcoal and baking soda is still available at health food stores for acid indigestion and was avail OTC at any pharmacy up until about 20 or so years ago when Tums, Rolaids, etc. marketing pushed it to extinction.

i wanted to make one of those pet water fountains like the kind that they drink from, and it was too expensive to buy one. I already have plans of how to make it, but it uses a fish tank filter which uses carbon to filter , while the pet fountains uses charckoal (i know i spelled that wrong) to filter it. even though fish are more sensative and live in that water, different animals react differently to different things. All i want to do is make sure that the carbon is not going to hurt him. I hope that all makes sense.
THANK YOU!!!
Hello; Yes, filtered water is better than contaminated water... but any decent city or town in the US has decent drinking water. I think the most important thing is NOT to give your cat milk, as some do, and to have his/her food and water in a stainless steel bowl.
I change my dogs' water daily... sometimes more, depending on the day... my wife doesn't do that with her cat, so her cat drinks my dogs water... she's not stupid! I also wash my dogs' bowls daily, just as I'd want my own dishes washed.
Since you're sincere in your concern for your cat, I'd recommend that changing the water; making certain it's always fresh, is just as important, if not more so, than using filtered water... the big deal about those expensive water dispensers is that the fountain keeps the water moving, so bacteria cannot form, like a fast moving stream, as compared to... a swamp. If your homemade fountain will move the water, that's very cool! send me your plans!!! I'll try making one for our household pets.
Next, let's talk about food (I know, you didn't ask, but as a pet lover, I feel the need to share my philosophy). I buy my dog Premium dog food, Hill's Science Diet, Natures Best... it's about the best available here in Puerto Rico, when I lived in Michigan, I bought him Nutro... I'm considering a move to a better food, but I'm currently studying dog nutrition, (which is different than cat nutrition), because I want to give him as best as I can... If I have to pay $30 for a 18lb bag of food, I don't mind, since I can spend twice that in one meal for me and the wife.... when it takes him two months to eat that bag! I love my dog, and he deserves that, I feel. With that said, I would also urge you to think about what you feed your cat, and if you could do better, please do so. If all you can afford is the Shopping center food, then buy your cat Purina One, it's the best by far than any other brand, carried by any of the mega marts in the world... if you buy at a petsmart, ask some of the specialist employees, and readup online... expensive doesn't always mean best, or even good! I thank you for letting me voice what is a real concern (and an epidemic here in PR!), Please everyone, take care of your pets!
I hope you found this useful;
Marcos

The polish man next door gave me a big (ok- HUGE) bottle of it, cause he always sees me drinking water. But I am kind of ify about it. It seems very fizzy, and not like regular water.
help!
The carbon dioxide will make the water acidic so it will have a sour taste. It won't hurt you to drink it every now and then, but plain water is defiantly better for you.
Is simple soda water bad for you? We breath carbon dioxide which not necessarily good or bad, so what so different drinking water that's carbonated? How does this simple carbonated water steal calcium from your bones?
I'm talking about the simple carbonated water that sometimes comes from soda fountains(NO SUGAR/SALT ADDED). NOT like the club soda or other sodas that has salt or sweeteners added.
Sometimes those soda fountains with sprite sometimes have free water and free soda tabs-(that soda).
It withers away enamel from teeth, and carbon dioxide changes pH of serous fluid surrounding bone and some tissue. It also does burn the esophagus.

Carbon Capture Journal
- The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed the creation of a new class of injection well, Class VI, to regulate the long term storage of CO2.
The proposed rule lays out the technical criteria for geologic site characterisation, monitoring and corrective action, well construction and operation, mechanical integrity testing, post-injection site care and site closure for the purposes of protecting underground sources of drinking water.
The proposal builds upon the existing Underground Injection Control (UIC) regulatory framework, with modifications based on the unique nature of CO2 injection.
These include:
•Geologic site characterisation to ensure that GS wells are appropriately sited;
•Requirements to construct wells with compatible materials and in a manner that prevents fluid movement into unintended zones;
•Periodic re-evaluation...
Startup Manna Energy Seeks to Use Carbon Offsets to Provide ...

Manna Energy , a Houston, Texas-based water technology startup, is seeking to put carbon offsets to an innovative and life-saving use: providing water – sustainably – for Rwandan communities. In addition to addressing the country’s interrelated problems of water shortage, climate change, and non-sustainable development, Manna Energy is making the case for sustainable growth in developing countries.
Manna’s Rwanda Natural Energy Project is still in-progress. When complete, it will provide clean, drinkable water for more than 250,000 teachers, students, and staff at more than 400 secondary schools throughout Rwanda, GreenBiz.com reports . It will do so sustainably, replacing traditional water-purification techniques at those schools (typically, boiling water by burning wood, thus creating carbon emissions) with green water treatment plants, which will purify water using gravity filtration and solar power. In addition, the Project will also employ a workforce in Rwanda and utilize local materials, thereby supporting local economic growth and stability.
