At home im drinking directly from the faucet, cause the water is drinkable. On the airplane you cant do that cause the water in the toilet is non-drinkable. Is it too complex/costly to filter water for a airplane? Is there a airline who offers this feature?
The water in the sink is ordinary tap water from, well, somewhere the plane has been. (Or since it doesn't get emptied and cleaned out, a random mix of a bunch of somewheres.) It's marked non-potable because of the possibility of contamination and because (again, since the tank is not routinely drained at sanitized) it (or at least some of it) has been in the tank a long time. If you were to drink some, it probably wouldn't hurt you. It's more likely to taste lousy.

I just moved into an apartment and the water is awful. When it first comes from the faucet, it tastes fine but smells like metal or rust, but then after leaving it out for a while, it tastes metallic. Would getting a faucet or water pitcher filter give me safe drinking water? Should I start buying bottled water instead of a filter?

It's probably old pipes that is giving your water that metallic taste - not the water itself. So yes, I would buy bottled water.
i'm an avid water drinker. i usually drink bottle water daily but when we run out i drink water from the sink..for maybe 2 to 3 days at the most. i live in maryland, if it matters. is this bad for my health in the long run or what?

People are just now waking up to the scam that is bottled water. It's bad for the environment (all that plastic wasted) and in many cases the water out of your tap not only tastes better, but may also be cleaner. Of the 70 million empty plastic water bottles produced EVERY DAY in the US, more than 85% will end up in a landfill.
You'd be better off investing in a good tap-mounted filter or filtering container (Brita, Pur) and doing your own bottled water in a reusable bottle.

It really depends where you live. If you're a big water drinker i'd suggest getting a britta water filter or something like that. This gives you the same quality and nutrients as bottled water, since most bottled water states pretty clearly its tap water just filtered :)
Try to avoid distilled water, because then you lose the flouride which is very good for your teeth. Ive heard thats why English peoples teeth are bad, because no flouride in the water.

Lots of cats prefer "running" type of water,... the theory on that is that it goes back to history when their cat ancestors drank from pools, streams and creeks,... running or water with movement entices them.
I have 2 cats that prefer that,.. 1 likes the drippy bathtub faucet and the other the drippy bathroom sink faucet (both needs new washers!).
Even though I have no less than 3 bucket dishes of water for all my critters in my house.

A fast-spreading drought has decreased drinking water supplies for nearly 7 million people and damaged crops in seven provinces and regions in central and northern China, the national anti-drought administration said.
Official statistics showed the drought had caused water shortages for 6.93 million people and 5.62 million head of livestock by Thursday.
Meanwhile, 145 million mu (9.67 million hectares) of crops have been affected – 3 million mu more than the average during the past few decades.
The overall scenario is serious because the drought is spreading fast due to low rainfall and lingering high temperatures, anti-drought officials said.
In the south, drought has hit in Hunan, Hubei and Guizhou provinces and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, due to a record-high temperature in the past two weeks.
Between Aug 15 and 25, six provinces in the south experienced 5.7 days with an average temperature of more than 35 C. Meteorologists said this is the longest record since 1960, as the area usually has only two days of temperatures that high during that time period, China News Service reported.
