I just moved into an apartment and the water is awful. When it first comes from the faucet, it tastes fine but smells like metal or rust, but then after leaving it out for a while, it tastes metallic. Would getting a faucet or water pitcher filter give me safe drinking water? Should I start buying bottled water instead of a filter?
This is in Richardson, TX
It's probably old pipes that is giving your water that metallic taste - not the water itself. So yes, I would buy bottled water.

I have hard water with lots of iron in it. We have a water softener to combat this. If we didn't have the softener, our water would be orange coming out of our faucets. It's not that good to be drinking water with the softener salt in it, especially now that I'm pregnant. What would be the best water filter for me? Should I get one that attaches to the faucet or a pitcher with a filter?
pur water filter takes out the iron in my water very well it should work for your needs.

Can I install reverse osmosis water filter without using faucet comes with it?
I want to get a RO filter for my ice maker. I do want want to dig a hole on my countertop or the sink (or using any existing holes). Is it possible to connect the "tubing to faucet" directly to the ice maker faucet? I only want to use drink water from the ice maker faucet.
Is this possible? Did anyone have experience with this?
Thanks.
Yes this can be done. I do this on a regular basis. Be sure to use plastic tubing from the R/O unit to the ice maker. R/O water is very aggressive to copper.
At home im drinking directly from the faucet, cause the water is drinkable. On the airplane you cant do that cause the water in the toilet is non-drinkable. Is it too complex/costly to filter water for a airplane? Is there a airline who offers this feature?
The water in the sink is ordinary tap water from, well, somewhere the plane has been. (Or since it doesn't get emptied and cleaned out, a random mix of a bunch of somewheres.) It's marked non-potable because of the possibility of contamination and because (again, since the tank is not routinely drained at sanitized) it (or at least some of it) has been in the tank a long time. If you were to drink some, it probably wouldn't hurt you. It's more likely to taste lousy.

Will my copper pipes be okay? - WaterFilters.NET - Water Filter ...
For the two filtration housings, I plan to use a Doulton Imperial Sterasyl OBE Ceramic Filter in the first (to do any initial filtration and remove any bacteria), and an Intelifil KDF85/GAC Filter on the second to catch any stray sulfur odor as well as improve taste and remove pesticides or other contaminants that might occur from being surrounded by farms. My question is, will the drinking water that exits these 2 filters be considered a solvent and thus have the potential to eat away at the copper piping that goes to the fridge/icemaker and the 2 drinking water-only faucets? I don't want to install this elaborate filtration system only to find that we are now drinking water with elevated levels of copper (which would be the case were I to install an R.O. system before the copper pipes).
