Replacing delta faucet cartridge 1700 series?

Water trickles from tub shower faucet. Is cartride gone bad? I have 1700 series delta faucet. If the problem is with cartridge, where do I find information how to do it. Delta website gives very little info. Please help

Delta has a replacement policy with Home Depot or Loews. Call them. It is just a matter of you taking the cartridge with you and they will give you a new one. Free.

It is as simple as that.

I have done it a few times myself.

Replace Stuck Moen Shower Faucet Cartridge

I show how I removed a stuck Moen shower cartridge using an Easy Out tool. I initially attempted to remove the sleeve of the cartridge using a tap ...

Faucet cartridge is really stuck!?

So here's the deal....I am trying to replace the cartridge in my shower fauce (I already did the bathtub without to many difficulties). I have the water turned off and the "special" core tool to pull out the brass center - silver part already came out. I was able to get the tool locked into the brass part but no matter how much I pull the brass part will not come out! I have tried CLR for the past 4 hours....I need another idea. Currently the tool is still in place since I can't get that out either. I really want to turn my water back on. Please give me some ideas on how to get this stupid brass piece out so that I can put the replacement in.
Yes, I did remove the retaining clip - I learned that doing the bathtub cartridge!....Thanks for the suggestion unfortunately that's not it.....

Call the plumber before you break something. They are the people who sabotaged the plumbing so let them deal with it. I dont understand why plumbers, mechanics etc. dont use some kind of thread lubricant, Geez.

Any plumbers out there, serious pressure issue with shower only?

We just bought this house it was built in 1998, it has PVC through out and the house is about 1700 sq feet. The master bathroom shower has no pressure at all. It has a Delta 1400 faucet, I replaced the head still no pressure. I called a plumber out to replace the cartridge, they burped the line and put the new cartridge in. I still have no pressure at all, the water trickles out and takes 10-11 minutes to get hot. The sink in that bathroom has fine pressure, the outside house on that side of the house has fine pressure. All the other fixtures are fine, the other bathroom has the same shower system and it works great. The plumber I called out really don't have any more ideas as to how to fix the issue, he said that the PVC run maybe to long as the shower is on the end of the loop, but then said he don't think that can be the problem or it wouldn't pass code here. I don't know what else to do at this point
I took the shower head off, the water just slowly drizzles from the pipe. I removed the pipe and tried to feel around the pipe in the top part of the wall with a coat hanger and I didn't feel any blockage.

It's a shower only no bath, and a one story house. The inspector that inspected the house noted lower pressure but said it was the head.

The plumber said the pressure was great when we burped the line, but I wasn't in there to verify this, but he didn't burp the line when he first installed the cartridge, only after he installed it and saw the pressure was still poor. I'm now wondering if he contaminated the new cart.

I thought about just replacing the faucet, as I'm not to thrilled with just an on and off with no pressure adjustment.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions so far...
Just an update, cut the pipes out today, they where not clogged anywhere. Pulled the cartridge assembly out, turned the water on to clean the line out (again), the pressure is fine there, it shoots out like a fire hydrant. Took the valve/cartridge from the good shower to test it in the bad shower, and the same issue, water just trickles from the pipe (head removed to eliminate it as a problem) Plumber doesn't know of anything else that can be the problem.

blockage somewhere. its cpvc not pvc. pvc is drain. i would burp it again and make sure you have good pressure on both sides. it should blast out of the faucet with the cart. removed. only other thing would be if they installed any shutoffs near that faucet and their not on all the way. with pressure balanced valves if one side gets low pressure so will the other. still say blockage in water lines or line up to shower head

both my showers only produce scalding hot water, no cold.?

i recently had my water pump replaced, and since then both the showers to my house only produce scalding hot water. i turned down the temperature on my water heater to the absolute lowest it will go, and it is still hot.

i have cold water in the sinks and bathtub in both bathrooms, so i am puzzled. each shower control is the same make: a single handle moentrol. when i turn the handle to cold, it is only a trickle that comes out. one of the showers has hardly ever been used, so i don't know how long the problem has occurred in that line, but the other one has been used on a daily basis and is just now starting to do this.

i thought that the problem may be that i need to either clean or replace the valve cartridge. however now that the 2nd shower is doing the same thing, i'm wondering if the problem is somewhere in the cold water line to both showers. the bathtub is separate from the shower (and has 2 faucets; one for hot, one for cold) and is completely fine, so that is what is puzzling to me. could it be that both showers, with the same make and model of a single handle moentrol, just need the valve cartridges cleaned and/or replaced?

thanks for your help.

How can I fix my low water pressure problem in my showers?

Here's the details..My water softener messed up sending tiny little orange beeds througout the house in all of the waterlines. I was able to clear out all of the junk from the faucets and toilets, but now the showers have lost pressure. I am assuming some of that junk is in the valve in the wall? I can't seem to take that apart. I have a single unit Delta brand in both bathrooms. Is there some kind of cartridge in there I will need to replace? Is that valve soldered into the wall or can I unscrew it somehow?

The first check should be the shower head. Remove it and turn on the water. If you get a good flow out of the shower arm, then the head is plugged. If you can't take it apart to clean, then replace it. Delta tub and shower valves have a ball and seats inside. They are very easy to disassemble and repair. The valves could be either soldered or screwed. Either way, to remove it would mean cutting the piping to the valve and the shower head and tub spout. I believe that you can fix the problem without removing the valve.

Escondido Homes and Tips: Replacing a Shower Tub Faucet? Tips You ...

Is the constant drip from the shower annoying you at night? Fix it. Replacing shower tub faucets is easy with the tips given below.

The faucets come in various styles and sizes. The old ones used to have washers and newer ones have cartridges in them which control hot and cold water. If there is a leak it will be due to these. They start leaking or dripping when washers become stiff and corroded. Water pressure also hastens this process.
So when you remove these take the faucets to the hardware store and get them replaced according to the correct size. Take an exact centre to centre measurement.
Keep the correct tools with you. Basically you require two pipe wrenches one for holding and another for turning. For square or hex nuts open end wrenches are ideal as they have smooth jaws. If the pipe is of small diameter then you need to have vise grip wrench.
