I was trying to replace faucet cartridge and ended up breaking the copper pipes to the bathtub.?

Is there anything I can do w/o a plumber? I have the water turned off to the whole house and don't really want to leave it off until tomorrow.

Unless you can access the rear and plug off the supply pipe(s), you are gonna be without water until you get a plumber!

Can't say for sure, but you are probably gonna lose some wall to gain access, so you could go ahead and open up the wall to get to the pipes. You could cut them off and solder caps, or even crimp the ends and solder if you are capable of that.

Replacing delta faucet cartridge 1700 series?

Water trickles from tub shower faucet. Is cartride gone bad? I have 1700 series delta faucet. If the problem is with cartridge, where do I find information how to do it. Delta website gives very little info. Please help

Delta has a replacement policy with Home Depot or Loews. Call them. It is just a matter of you taking the cartridge with you and they will give you a new one. Free.

It is as simple as that.

I have done it a few times myself.

Delta cartridge faucet: replaced both cartridges, still leaks. What now?

Delta bathroom sink fixture with separate hot and cold knobs. At least 20 years old. I replaced both cartridges with (what I thought were) the proper cartridges--I took them to Home Depot to compare--and at first everything was fine, although I really had to crank down on the knobs to get the faucet to stop dripping. Two months later I'm getting a steady drip. Since the cartridges are brand new, either they were the wrong ones or I installed them incorrectly. Any ideas? Thanks.

You should never have to crank down on ANY faucet to get it to stop dripping.
If that's the case, there's a problem somewhere.
In your case, it's most likely in the seats.
That's the brass rings that the cartridges, or valve stems, seal on.
These should have been replaced along with your valve stems.
In fact, they should have come with them when you purchased them.
You need a special, inexpensive seat removal tool to get them off and install new ones.
Once you do that, your faucet will be like new.
And no more cranking on your faucet knobs...

I replaced by faucet cartridge and now have a low flow. Why?

Could be materials in the faucet found there way to your strainer on the spout. Unscrew it and see if the strainer is infact clogged.

  • how do i replace a single handled faucet cartridge?

Last week I wrote about how to replace a washer in a normal double handle faucet to repair a leak. A more complicated issue is to correct a leak in a single handled faucet which involves the replacement of the sometimes complicated cartridge which is the fundamental heart of the single handled fixture. These cartridges are pressed into their fittings and most of the time will not come out without some assistance and this assistance can be a hammer and a punch. In the hands of an unskilled handyman this usually ends up with a trip to the supply house for a new faucet. I read the following narrative from a thread in one of my favorite DIY forums this morning: “Over the weekend I replaced the leaky cartridges in a Moen bar sink...individual hot and cold. The faucet was installed in the mid 70's, functionally clean not loaded with mineral deposits, exterior finish just shy of looking new....

Shop 4 Classics Old House Blog: Repairing Vintage Strom Plumbing ...

Strom Plumbing has been supplying antique reproduction plumbing for over 30 years. The company has been around for so long that some of their reproduction faucets are now themselves considered antiques. No offense to our senior readers but one phenomenon that occurs to old things with moving parts is that they eventually begin to break down. Wear and tear over time creates a natural need for repair parts. Strom Plumbing (also known as Sign of the Crab ) versatility did create a problem, however. Repairing a Strom Plumbing faucet became more difficult because the faucet owner now needed to know if their faucet was configured with compression valves or ceramic disk valves. Although the faucets look identical, the internal valves are different and not interchangeable. Therefore, you must determine if the faucet has compression valves or ceramic disk valves in order to repair it with the correct...
