I am sick of the taste of tap water and I bought a pur water filtration system and though it definitely looks more clearer, though I still get a little of that tap water taste... has anyone found one that works very well and yields water that doesn't have a weird taste?
I use the Pur water filter that has a flavor cartridge in it, you can flavor the water (sugar and calorie free) with raspberry or lemon. That helps take the edge off.
You may have very hard water to start with, or problem with your water pipes that may be causing the problem.
If a water pitcher type system doesn't work well enough - you may have to go to a system that is mounted under the sink and uses a much larger filter. They even have whole-house filters that need to be installed by a plumber but are very effective.
Another thing you might try with your existing water filter - is to filter it twice. Add water to your filter and when it is done dripping - pout it into a clean container and then back into the top of the filter to go through the process again.
It can't hurt and it won't cost you anything to try it.
I hope that helps.
Not all water filters are created equal. See for yourself why only PUR is certified to remove 99.95% of microbial cysts, like giardia and ...
So I'm not sure if the running water itself is powering them or if there's a little battery inside from which the LED draws electricity from. Either way, how does it work?
There's a little battery in there.

I'm thinking of buying a Pur water bottle for my grandmother, but I first want to make sure the replacement filters are available in stores. I don't know if there is like a one-size-fits-all filter, or if there are different filters for every product.
I found the PUR CF100 Filtering Water Cooler Tank on amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/CF100-Filtering-Wa ter-Cooler-Tank/dp/B000K6JL5O/sr=8-21/qi d=1168843852/ref=sr_1_21/105-1641980-223 9627?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden
....it says it comes with "2 model CRF-950 filters," but I can't find those filters for sale online, which makes me think that they won't be in stores. I've only looked in 2 stores, and the filters I've found either don't match those numbers, or don't say that they fit that particular cooler.
Does anyone have experience with this water bottle or can you tell me if it will be easy to find replacements or how to know if the filters I see in stores will fit this cooler even though it's not listed on the box? thanks
Yes, it's a bottle that is supposed to fit on most coolers. I thought I read somewhere about certain Pur filters being discontinued, so I wanted to see if someone had an opinion on this or some knowledge about it.
you could give her the one that hooks on to the faucet and she could just fill up a water bottle

get you to rush to buy another one? ours just turned red (we have the stage 3 for the faucet) and I don't know if it's a dire emergency to get a new one or if we can wait a bit..They arent' cheap :)
well, depending on where you live, the filter may be unncessary entirely. but if you live in a place where the water is sketchy...i tend to think, yes, of course, the company will make it "red" early so that you buy more. but i also would not want to risk it. all that said, it is likely that your tap water is safe, so i would NOT stress about it.
just warm, not hot.. is that okay?
Yeah, I use warm water all the time from the tap. No problems.

Hot Product: PUR Water Filter with Flavor Options
I was in a store last night and saw this really cool product. What was it? The PUR Water filter with flavor options, what a neat idea! This product has been on the market for awhile but hasn't really been on my radar. I tend to buy bottled water all the time but now that the economy has taken a turn for the worst, I've been on the hunt for ways to save money. The PUR Water filter with flavor options is a great way to enjoy clean, refreshing flavored water from home. This is definitely going on my 'Must-Have' list! Not only will it save me money but it'll also helps protect the environment.
polypropylene #5 sport cap - this is what the cap of the Eco-Friendly water/liquid carrier is made. The rest of the liquid carrier is (supposedly) made of stainless steel.
Just pondering......how can this liquid carrier call itself...
