Can I install reverse osmosis water filter without using faucet comes with it?

I want to get a RO filter for my ice maker. I do want want to dig a hole on my countertop or the sink (or using any existing holes). Is it possible to connect the "tubing to faucet" directly to the ice maker faucet? I only want to use drink water from the ice maker faucet.

Is this possible? Did anyone have experience with this?

Thanks.

Yes this can be done. I do this on a regular basis. Be sure to use plastic tubing from the R/O unit to the ice maker. R/O water is very aggressive to copper.

Are there any problems with using a brass faucet with a Culligan reverse osmosis system?

I want to replace my current stainless steel drinking water faucet with something that is in a dark brass finish. Some say that there is more of a deterioration with the brass. Is this with any type of faucet, or only with water is "reverse osmosified?" If this is a problem with the brass and the reverse osmosis filter, does anyone know of a brand of brass cold water faucets that do not corrode with the reverse osmosis filter? I appreciate your thoughts in adavnce.

Reverse osmosis actually makes the water less reactive. Is the faucet solid brass? Doesn't really matter because the brass that is used for drinking water is usually of a corrosion resistant alloy.

What are some good reverse osmosis h2o filter options for a residential water line?

My husband would prefer NOT to have a separate faucet line for filtered water, so we would need an in-line drinking water filter for our kitchen sink. He would also prefer NOT to have to depend on a plumber to install it.

99% of residential water lines do not need R.O. systems they are made for homes with wells for filtering small amounts of nitrates out of the water.99% of residental water is already filtered.

Does Reverse Osmosis remove sodium from softened water?

I am thinking of purchasing the GE Water Softening System - GXSF40H and a separate point-of-use RO system for the kitchen faucet. Will this arrangement remove the salt from the softened water and make it fit for drinking? Does the RO remove essential minerals as well?

yes

  • Why Buying a Reverse Osmosis Faucet May Not Be the Best Idea

This scared me to death. The many thousands of people who rely on their reverse osmosis faucet are being duped by the companies that manufacture these faucets. There is little benefit, and so many disadvantages of these units, it’s unbelievable.

The way a reverse osmosis faucet works is common knowledge now. The unit contains a semi permeable membrane, through which the water to be filtered is forced to pass through. Any particles in the water that are bigger in size than the pores in the membrane are filtered and only the smaller particles like that of water are able to pass through.

This technique is effective for filtering out contaminants like dirt, cysts and heavy metals from the water. But that is just half the story.

In today’s world, the pollution levels are unprecedented. The old technologies of filtration are no longer as effective as they used to be. For example, the water we get from our taps contains a lot of chemicals and pharmaceutical drugs
