Can I install reverse osmosis water filter without using faucet comes with it?

I want to get a RO filter for my ice maker. I do want want to dig a hole on my countertop or the sink (or using any existing holes). Is it possible to connect the "tubing to faucet" directly to the ice maker faucet? I only want to use drink water from the ice maker faucet.

Is this possible? Did anyone have experience with this?

Thanks.

Yes this can be done. I do this on a regular basis. Be sure to use plastic tubing from the R/O unit to the ice maker. R/O water is very aggressive to copper.

Does anyone use a reverse osmosis filter? Is it easy to hook up to your tap.?
New Reverse Osmosis Water Filters

I am purchasing a saltwater aquarium in the near future and am debating on if I should get an RO filter or not. Are they easy to use? I want to get one with a tap connector so I can unhook it when I don't need it. Any suggestions would be great. I just figured it would be easier than lugging home 20 jubs from the store

i have always used tap water, and just let it adjust to room temp. and use a charcoal filter.

What is the best way to get clean water - reverse osmosis, filter, or electric?

I live in Kaohsiung so we have problems with everything from lead, calcium, VOCs the works.

Lead is the most dangerous contaminant here because it is so easily soluble in water and very hazardous. It would be best to use a lead reduction carbon block followed by reverse osmosis for lead. This will take care of VOCs also. For the calcium removal, you will need a water softening resin. You can get this in a cartridge, but if flow is high and/or hardness is high, a regenerative water softener would be more cost effective. Regarding EDI, that is most effective as a polishing filter, but won't be required with RO at point of use.

The final train should be:
5 micron prefilter
Lead reduction carbon block
Water softener (can go ahead of carbon if no chlorine)
Reverse osmosis

Good luck!!!

Can a reverse osmosis system filter softened water?

I am planning to soften my water for all round benifit in the home.

I also want to purify my drinking water through a reverse osmosis system.

Can these 2 things be used together or can only 1 system be used?

If they can be used together can a reverse osmosis system purify softened water safely for drinking?

Short answer is Yes

You can use the RO to filter the softened water. A decent RO system will also have pre and post filters.

A 5 to 10 micron prefilter protects the RO filter membrane from being plugged up by particulate matter in the water. An activated carbon post filter improves taste and polishes the RO water.

Treated RO water is then stored in a small accumulator (pressure tank with a bladder in it) .

Treating water with an RO filter tacks some time and uses water in roughly a 5:1 ratio. Send 5 gallons of water to the RO to get 1 gallon of treated water the remaining water is then sent to a drain.

As a result you use RO water for drinking and maybe supplying water to an Ice maker. The unit will treat a gallon or two and store it for use once the accumulator is topped off the RO unit stops treating water. So no water is used when the RO is in standby.

I am contemplating getting a reverse osmosis filter system, anyone got one and can share their thoughts?

Also, I have done some research but can't find if it filters out fluoride - anyone elaborate?

I bought a Whirlpool system about 8 months ago and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm not sure how much money I save over bottled water, but the convenience it worth it to me. We just refill empty bottles (after washing of course). I've replaced the filters once. About $80 for that every six months. But the water where I live is extremely hard. So for me, I'm glad I bought it. I can't find anything that says it filters out fluoride, but I can't find where it says it doesn't either.

Thinking of Buying GE Reverse Osmosis Filter? Here’s What You Need ...

If you are someone who uses a GE reverse osmosis water filter at home or if you are someone who is looking to buy one, you need to read this article fully. In this article, I attempt to review GE water filters objectively and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the same. By the time you finish reading this article, you will be in a position to make an informed decision about buying the right kind of water filters.

GE reverse osmosis filters, as the name clearly suggests, are based on reverse osmosis purification process. It is a little surprising that a lot of people buy RO filters without having the slightest idea of how they work. So, let me first tell you something about reverse osmosis and how it works.

In a typical GE reverse osmosis water filter, water passes through a semi permeable membrane during the purification process. In this process, all the cysts, heavy metals, dirt, and basically any substance that is larger in size than water molecules are removed and you get pure water. While this sounds perfect, there are two major problems in this process.
