I am having major problems stabilizing my tank. My tap water is Reverse Osmosis and I just seem to get a bad "slime" over everything including my fish. I have lost all my fish including my algae eater. I need help. I have a 29 gallon tank. I had Neon's, a Betta and my algae eater and they are all dead.

You have RO tap water? That's a new one on me, do you mean you have a water softner? What are the exact parameters on your tap water?

RO water lacks minerals that freshwater fish need, you need to add these minerals back into the water in order for it to be suitable for freshwater fish. This is what you're missing if that really is RO water coming out your tap. Usually for freshwater they recommend RO water is mixed with regular tap water also.

What is the best type of water for our bodies and why? If you can explain the differences between these waters and the benefits:
distilled water,
tap water,
mineral water,
reverse osmosis water,
spring water,
and any other types of water that could be on this list.

Oh - by the way, I never buy bottled water.

I do drink distilled water. I usually fill up my own water bottle and bring that with me. I really do want to understand the differences between these various types of waters.

I was told that distilled water was "dead water" meaning it is pure with no minerals etc.

I ask as I have been drinking distilled water (we get it from the lab where my husband works as it is distilled coming out of the tap.)

We have a reverse osmosis system in our home. Once a year they change the filters. When we were on a well water the filter was filled with rust. With city water the rust isn't there. I do think we are going crazy with types of water. There is even a question of what the plastic containers contain. I'd be afraid to go to a well and pump water out for myself because of chemical seepage. Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink.

Reverse Osmosis water is one of the purest types of water you can get-more pure than distilled. MUCH better than tap.

Get 2 Pots. Fill with 2 cups of tap water, the other with Reverse Osmosis water (Aquafina, or Dasini)
Bring both to boil, and continue to boil until all the water is evaporated.
You will notice a calcium ring in the tap water pot which should prove to you that boiling water does not remove the minerals.
It does however kill any harmful bacteria (hence boil water orders when municipal system is down)
Notice no ring in the Reverse Osmosis water.
Boiling water does not purify. When water is boiling it is the pure water that evaporates leaving whatever else is in the water in the pot.

We have RO system and it tastes great. If you figure out how much you spend on bottled RO water, you will know quickly how fast it will pay for itself. RO system cost us $150. (installed ourselves), paid for in months and no more plastic bottles filling the trash. Plus you don't have to boil your water when ordered.

We had them come and repressurize the tank (with our own pump btw) and change the filters. Since then we got a bill for over $200. I am postponing paying it because I lost my job. Now the darn thing is leaking every time we turn it on. Its at the base by the slide switch. We can't call them to fix it because of the outstanding bill. What can we do? Any fix-it-yourself websites out there anyone can recommend?

I worked for Culligan for years. It depends on the faucet that you have.
Are you referring to a faucet? does it have a black push down handle or a side slide type silver handle?
