Can I install reverse osmosis water filter without using faucet comes with it?

I want to get a RO filter for my ice maker. I do want want to dig a hole on my countertop or the sink (or using any existing holes). Is it possible to connect the "tubing to faucet" directly to the ice maker faucet? I only want to use drink water from the ice maker faucet.

Is this possible? Did anyone have experience with this?

Thanks.

Yes this can be done. I do this on a regular basis. Be sure to use plastic tubing from the R/O unit to the ice maker. R/O water is very aggressive to copper.

Reverse Osmosis Water Filter: I'm Drinking Acidic or Alkaline Water?
IMG_7573

I was looking at my reverse osmosis water filter, one connect to the tap and the other one connect to a pail, probably for disposal. Is the water we suppose to drink from the filter acidic or alkaline?

The reverse osmosis process just removes the impurities in the water. There is one case where the pH could potentially change a bit - if the water has had its pH raised by adding something like "soda ash" -used by some city water supplies to bring the pH up to 7 or above.

It is possible that part of the reaction that took place to raise the pH could be undone by the reverse osmosis process in some municipal water supplies.

I have an RO system in a city that DOES use soda ash to raise the pH. I tested the water straight from the tap and again out of the RO system - I did not detect even a 0.1 change in pH -so I can't say its impossible, I've read it can happen, but I have never seen it happen and I have testing equipment that is sensitive enough to detect it.

If you're getting a reverse osmosis water filter, should you get the add on that remineralizes the water?
New Reverse Osmosis Water Filters

Obviously it's more expensive to get the add on, but from a health point of view is it better to get the minerals put back in (I imagine so), but does it really make a difference? And does it alter the taste much?

It doesn't make a ton of difference, actually because you don't take in enough water to make up the difference in your body for the small percentages of mineralizing.

Why do the tanks on domestic reverse osmosis water filter systems lose pressure.?

If the Tank on the reverse osmosis system loses pressure, and there is very little or no output to the tap, can the tank be re-pressurised or is it a case of replacement.

If this system is attached to public warter system (Not a well) you may need to get a pump attached to increase the pressure

Culligan Reverse Osmosis AC-30 system- leaking carbon filter ...

I replaced the filters in my AC-30 under the sink RO system and water is gushing from the u ring holes from the carbon filter. The O rings appears to be in good condition and fit snugly. I applied lubricant to them. There does appear to a drain/air hole running up the side of the housing which joins at the manifold assembly and wonder whether I am missing a seal on this air hole.

Save Money By Installing a Water Filter | Oh My Apartment

Investing in a water filter is a less obvious way to save money on your living expenses. If you can’t stand the taste of your tap water, you may have already decided to purchase bottled water, as a better alternative. But there’s a more cost-effective way to obtain fresher, better tasting water.

Cost of Bottled Versus Filtered Water

Bottled water comes from many sources, including tap water. Regardless of the water’s source, the bottling company processes, bottles and distributes it, increasing its cost. Depending on the brand and type of water filter you purchase, the cost of filtered water averages around $0.30 (or less) per gallon. Bottled water (with prices ranging from $0.89 to $8.26 per gallon), on average, costs twelve times as much per gallon.

Water Filter Types

Several types of water filtration systems are available. Some types, like the whole house water filter, aren’t feasible for apartment dwellers. Instead, choose a filtration system based on the contaminant types you’re trying to remove from the water. For apartment dwellers, countertop, pitcher and faucet-mounted filters are the easiest to install. They’re more limited than under-sink filters because they’re visible and usually can’t filter contaminants besides tastes, smells and lead. This type of filter attaches to your faucet or requires you to pour water through it, making it less convenient than other types of water filters.
