We just got a reverse osmosis water filtration system. Everytime we get a glass of water, it gurgles for about 30 min after wards. Is this normal?

Yes. Reverse Osmosis works by using water pressure to force water through a semi permeable membrane as it does this the particles that are to large to go through go into the waste water and down the drain. Your system is refilling the reservoir after you empty some out.

Do reverse osmosis water filtration systems use a lot of electricity?

I was thinking about getting a reverse osmosis water filter for my condo. I was told that RO systems use a lot of electricity. From my understanding, RO systems use water pressure to pull the water through the filter membrane.

Do RO filters systems use a lot of electricity to pump the water through the filter membrane? Or is it just the pressure from the tap?

Reverse osmosis systems don't use any electricity if you're on municipal water - it's just the pressure from the tap.

If you have a well and pump, that's a different story.

Reverse osmosis does waste a lot of water, perhaps that's what you were reading. You might get as little as one gallon of pure water out of 10 gallons of tap water, the rest goes down the drain.

Not sure if I should get an atmospheric water generator, or a unit that plugs into the home "tap" supply of poisoned water to filter it. Looking for answers from pros, and or people with existing units.

Watts looks good if you live near a sales rep and are filty rich - I am not.

espring thinks flouride is good for you, which it's not.

home depot sells GE 10gpd for under 250 bucks. this is comparable to the systems i used to sell for 1200 ! if you cant install it about 50 dollars is what a handyman should charge. RO delivers the best quality water in your home for drinking and cooking, anything that goes in your body. my motto, if it is not there it cant hurt you!

i want to know how to install a reverse osmosis water filtration system at home?
high pressure pump (12)

i would like some diagrams if possible, its a unit that will be installed under the kitchen sink

Reverse osmosis is just a name for "forcing" osmosis to happen by adjusting the pressure on one side of the transfer. Either by increasing pressure on the supply side, or decreasing it on the output. A good system will involve a small pump and a resivoir. The pump drops pressure on the demand side, and draws the filtered water into the resivoir, which is kept under pressure so that you'll have pressure at the tap.

Installation will involve running the supply line to the filter, a line from the filter to the pump, from the pump to the resivoir, and from the resivoir to the tap. And running an electrical line to the pump.

Some units combine some of these functions, and you may just have to run a line in, a line out, and plug it in.

There are also companies that offer whole house filtration systems, where the water is filtered on the line into the house, so all the water you use is purified.

The undersink reverse osmosis system is good. If you have any DIY skills I’d recommend buying one from a different source and installing it yourself. I bought one for under $100 from aquasafesystems on ebay (that was for reference only and not an endorsement though I noticed now that they are $99.99 plus shipping now). Lowes and Home Depot sell similar systems for over $200.

well you need a high pressure pump to get the water through the membrane so look up the rating on the pump motor it well say voltage, amps and watts there may be some other electronics but very little power usage and im not sure if a R.O. plant is good idea for filtration its used mostly with sea water onboard ships but i can tell you its not the cheapest way to filter

    good luck
