How to install a Reverse Osmosis water filter - Watts 4 Filter Quick Change Reverse Osmosis System
Does this compare to an RO / DI system meant for an aquarium? Would it clear all the purities out of the water for a mini reef aquarium? I keep purchasing water for my tank from a fish store and it is time I get my own system for my tank, and I came across the Watts Premier RO-Pure Advanced Filtration Process Reverse Osmisus System at a great price. But I do not want to put my tank into danger by using the wrong system.
I am not a saltwater person, but I can tell you that the system you are looking at will give you RO - but that is not the same as RO/DI.
I am not sure if DI is all that important for saltwater tanks or are people using it simply because it is the cleanest thing they can get?
You may know the answer to that part better than me... But I think people used RO for a long time till DI came in vogue.

I am trying to get the Quick & Hot system from Costco but also want the water going in is filtered by an R.O. system (Watts Premier.)
You must first filter the water through the ROS. Run your water line from R. O. S. pressure tank to your Quick and Hot system with an in-line shut off valve.

It takes quite a few number of hours for the standard Watts Premier RO to fill 3 gallons of water. They say it's 4 gallon of waste water to get 1 gallon of filtered water. What happens if I replace the RO membrane with one that has higher output, say going from a 50 to a 75 or 100 gallon per day membrane, will that save more water?
If you haven't used RO, please do not comment. When I mention "wasted" water, I mean the city water that is wasted. as you know, on average RO wastes 4 gallons of city water to every 1 gallon of city water. please post only relevant answers.

Depends what you mean by "save more water". Reverse Osmosis converts normally sea (or saline) water to fresh water by forcing it through a membrane of a certain density. You can get a bigger one and you will fill your tank quicker, but as for saving water, don't see the relevance as the water that is "wasted" is no good to you as it is brine.

If, indeed, productA comes with a faucet, I would get that one, otherwise get B.

Reverse osmosis was developed as a water treatment method more than 40 years ago. The process first arose as a technique of desalinating seawater. Once the method's decontaminating capabilities were recognized, reverse osmosis systems began to be commercially produced for home water purification purposes. Such systems were installed in homes as early as the 1970s. Reverse osmosis systems seemed a viable option to the more costly and energy-wasteful distillation units. The reverse osmosis process depends upon a semi-permeable membrane through which pressurized water is forced. Reverse osmosis, simply stated, is the opposite of the natural osmosis process of water. Osmosis is the name for the tendency of water to migrate from a weaker saline solution to a stronger saline solution, gradually equalizing the saline composition of each solution when a semi-permeable membrane separates the two solutions. In reverse osmosis, water is forced to move from a stronger saline solution to a weaker solution,...
