Bad water. Is this a viable solution?

The issue I have here is that we have big particles and bad odour/taste. I would like to know if I can piggy back 2 undersink Rainfresh filters under my sink(I live in an apartment), the first having the sediment cartridge and the second having the carbon cartridge. The concern I have with only using the carbon is that it will become way to clogged with the big particulate matter. Is this a valid concern or will just the carbon filter do the job?
Here is a link to the one I am looking at..

What you are suggesting to do with the piggybacking of the cartridges is fine we did that on all of the ice machines in the hospital that I used to work at.
But, you have a bigger problem than that get a hold of your landlord and tell him the problem and that it needs corrected.
If you are on city water then the city needs to check and make sure that the water into the building is clean and useable.
If it is, then the landlord needs to get a plumber out there and check the piping in the building if he has the old galvanized piping in the building then it is breaking down and needs replaced.
If you are on a well then the water must be tested for purity and minerals and all the other stuff that affects well water.
Good luck on this and don't delay your health is at stake here.

  • How to Choose an Under Sink Water Filter | Water Filtration

Water from the tap in the kitchen is the most important source of water that we use to drink and cook our daily meals thus the kitchen sink is where most households install their under sink water filter. There are plenty of under sink water filters available on the market and most of them are equipped with filtration systems that claim to be able to purify tap water. Water that is processed by these under sink water filters appears to be clear and clean, safe for consumption and cooking purposes. Well, I believe most of these under sink water filters can reduce or may be able to remove the majority of the four categories of contaminants found in tap water such as Microbial Pathogens (bacteria and parasites), Organics (volatile organic chemicals and THMs), Inorganics (arsenic, chromium, lead and mercury) and Radioactive Elements (decay of uranium in soils and rocks).

If every under sink water filter was of similar specifications and able to produce the same quality of water, there would be nothing to compare. The question here is, “Why are these under sink water filters being sold at different prices?” The simple answer is, these are different products being manufactured by different companies, each with different specifications for their water filter cartridges which in turn affects the cost.

Under Sink Water Filters Are Economical And Efficient

The quality of the water you drink on a daily basis makes a difference in the quality of your health. Under sink water filters can make clear, healthy water available to you in your home easily, efficiently and economically. In fact, they have many advantages over other water purification systems available.

Drinking and cooking with bottled water is expensive and it’s not as practical as using an under sink filter. Here are the top benefits of using under sink filters and why you should consider making the switch.

An undersink water filter using carbon block or granular filtration is the most economical way to have a steady supply of clean water at less than 10 cents per gallon. Under sink water filters are the most practical because they are out of sight. They won’t get in the way and they will keep your kitchen clutter-free. They are especially good for people who have small kitchens and little space to spare.
