How can I fix my low water pressure problem in my showers?

Here's the details..My water softener messed up sending tiny little orange beeds througout the house in all of the waterlines. I was able to clear out all of the junk from the faucets and toilets, but now the showers have lost pressure. I am assuming some of that junk is in the valve in the wall? I can't seem to take that apart. I have a single unit Delta brand in both bathrooms. Is there some kind of cartridge in there I will need to replace? Is that valve soldered into the wall or can I unscrew it somehow?


The first check should be the shower head. Remove it and turn on the water. If you get a good flow out of the shower arm, then the head is plugged. If you can't take it apart to clean, then replace it. Delta tub and shower valves have a ball and seats inside. They are very easy to disassemble and repair. The valves could be either soldered or screwed. Either way, to remove it would mean cutting the piping to the valve and the shower head and tub spout. I believe that you can fix the problem without removing the valve.
