I have a Elite Stingray 5 Underwater Filter, how come there are no air buubles coming out? How deep is it supposed to be submerged?

have you got the filters in it properly,there is no depth it has to be submerged,if you don't have the filters in properly its not going to work

The instructions leaflet for the aquarium set-up advise me to 'filter' my sand before I place it in the tank. I googled on how to do this but it just came up with filters that I could buy. But I already have a filter, so does it mean to just leave the filter running on the sand for a few days beforehand or what? Help, please! :)

There are many different types of sand and gravel, but it is always good to wash/rinse it before putting it in the tank-putting it in a bowl or bucket, and running water through it, agitating it, with your hands or stirrer, and and pouring off the dirty water, and repeating until the water runs clean.

I don't know what they mean by filtering it, (although of course I know what filtering means).

Is it possible that the aquarium was not made in the US or an english speaking country? if so often instruction translations are often not very good, and "filter" could easily be translated as "clean" or "rinse".
You could use your filter as you said, but it would not be an efficient way of cleaning the actual sand.

I have had an under gravel filter for a while, but have been convinced through reading posts that a filter along the lines of a fluval underwater is superior. I would like to use my new filter, but do not want to risk my fish by disturbing them too much. Please can anyone give me some advice on the change over. Would I need to use the two filters togther for a while?

run the two together for 2 weeks to allow the beneficial bacteria in the new fluval to gather,
you Can run the two together if you want all the time but if you don't want to allow at least two weeks of running the two together

I drive an '04 Dodge SRT-4. In the manual under maintenance schedules it says both to replace the engine air cleaner filter and it also says to "Inspect and replace, if required, the the make-up air filter (located inside the air cleaner)"

What is the Make-up air filter? I replaced the main air filter and looked inside of it but there was no other filter inside of it.

I'm having to change my air filter every 2 or 3 weeks. My townhome is about 1200 square feet, but I don't understand why I have to change the filters so often. I have tried the air filters that are about $20 for one, and the cheaper ones that are $15 for 3. The $20 filter lasted about a week longer than the others, but for the cost it doesn't really add up. Home depot sells an air filter that costs $100, and it's suppose to be for 30 years or something. Anyway, what's the best air filter that I can buy?

In the past 7 years I have never seen a $100.00 filter at the HD. But to answer you question on the effectiveness on the filters, which by the way should be changes every 90 days, the spun fiber glass is the cheapest and worst filter you can buy. One way to see for yourself is to take baby powder and sprinkle it over the filter, just about all the powder fall through. With the 3 for $15.00, naturalaire filters, they fare better in stopping the talc powder. The best would be the 3M Electrostatic filters. Take a look at the MERV rating on your filters when you buy them. If you are asthmatic or have severe allergies, I would recommend the 3M filters, otherwise the Naturalaire filters work just fine. By the way I use the naturalaire.

Edit: An air filter is just that, it filters out particulates in the air when the A/C or Heater is run, thus clearing out any particulates in the air. An air purification system does the same thing without heating or cooling and is more efficient in cleaning the air. It is something i would recommend only if the buyer is a smoker, has allergies or respiratory ailments.
