How can i make a home made water purifier.?

Due to high cost of commercial purified water in the market. I want to make my own home made water purifier.

When I lived in an area that had gross water, I would tie a clean dishtowel over the faucet very tightly, so that the water would have to be strained through the dishtowel. I was SHOCKED at how much stuff that took out - it stained the dishtowel every time. I did that not just for the kitchen sink but shower and bath as well. And then if I was planning to cook with it or drink it, after that I'd always boil it.

Most filters have carbon in them, as one of the steps of purification ... the water just passes through it. Maybe look online on how to utilize this process.

One more suggestion - I don't know what your situation is, but if you have your own home, and might need a refrigerator in the future, get one that has a brandname water purifier built into it. Ours has a PUR water filter built in, so that all of the water that comes out of it gets filtered, and it does a great job - we have great tasting water, and it's MUCH more economical than buying it in bottles etc.,, even though the filters have to be replaced 3-4x a year ($30).

Other than that, before we had this fridge we used to get the PUR pitcher - it's great, and the replacement filters are not that expensive. It'd probably cost as much as you would to make your own.
