Opinion on what micron size water filter?

I live in the Philippines and filter my own water. I have a 3 tank whole house system. 1st tank in 10 micron filter, 2nd is a 5 micron filter, 3rd is a charcoal filter. Our drinking water is then filtered again using a 5 micron filter and another charcoal filter, then a UV light.

The lower the micron number, the smaller particles it filters. I go through filters fast and was wondering if I should just stop using the 5 microns and just use the 10's..... what do you think?

where do i install a particulate filter for a water tank/water pump?

i am installing a water pump and water tank. do i install a 5 micron filter before the pump or before the tank. the pump will be used to pump water from the tank to the house water main.
water for the tank will come from regular city water.
the water in our place is erratic so many people have installed tanks so they can have steady water pressure.

Install between pump from the ground and the tank to protect the tank you should also install whole house filter after tank to protect appliances and water heater.

What is the best portable water filter to use for hiking / travel?

I'm looking for something that really works well. A purifier, not just a filter. Something .2 micron (or smaller) and with a built-in way to automatically chemically treat the water (iodine/chlorine etc). There are several on the market and I'm looking for other peoples experiences and opinions. Something that could be used full time for weeks at a time on long trips where your only water source is creeks and lakes and in countries with questionable tap water.

ive been on camping for weeks and overseas and never had one.when camping only drink ru8nning water.when overseas always boil or buy bottled water.save some space in ya backpack to

Can I drink water straight from the water filter?

I just got a nice water filter, but I am not sure if I can drink water straight from the filter. My filter connects directly to the tap water source. Someone told me that I need to boil the water before I drink it. My filter clears .5 micron particles as well as other metals and chlorine. Thanks!!!!

Where are you¡ How clean is the water before the filter?

You can most likely drink the water.

What is the size of AMMONIA Particle? How many microns filter should be used to filter Ammonia from water?

Hello everyone. I would like to know what kind of filter should be used to filter ammonia out of the water. I do not want to use the ammonia chips. I know there is a certain filter with small micron size that would do the job. So, what I need to know is how large ammonia particle really is, and how many micron filter should I use to filter it out. If any of you know, please help.

Please, no stupid answers, no i don't knows, and so on. Answer only if you are sure. This is an important project and it would mean a lot to me if someone could tell me.
Remember, Reverse Osmosis systems filter our everything but the water molecule. So, this can be done

Excuse me Pal, if you mean ammonia that has the chemical formula NH4Oh, then no way to filter it, since it dissolves completely in water.
You can find ways to precipitate it though through chemical reaction, then filter it.
However in its original form, it is IMPOSSIBLE to filter from water.
Your question is similar to one asking how to filter a soluble salt from water.

Questions about WMO in 7.3 IDI, airplane engine oil... - Diesel ...

Here is my issue.... filtering. I am no handyman when it comes to building 55 gallon drum filtering systems. It would have to be bare-bones easy for me to do this. What is going to be the easiest way for me to filter it. I know about the 1 micron filter "sheets" you can buy, but what is the most effective way for a non experienced guy to do this. I dont WANT to go out and buy a bunch of stuff to do it either if thats possible, since I dont know if I would keep this filtering oil deal up for very long!! Just got back from a 300 mile trip Saturday and only burned 10 gallons of diesel. Had some problems along the way and I have been posting my experiences and asking plenty of questions but not many people have had definitive answers. Some post things like "you shouldn't have....". Kinda disappointing but it's all part of the learning curve. My filtering setup was simple, call it CRUDE. I gravity...
