anybody recommend a water filter that has no nasty aftertaste. this is an outdoor filter that goes directly to refrigerator that dispenses water. it is a small filter.

I have a GE Side-by-Side Adora edition, I was wondering if the filter that we buy for it filters the water AND ICE. We have a separate water dispenser because the water in Las Vegas doesn't taste right. However we still do use the ice that our fridge produces which is connected to the tap water. Does anyone know?
Wouldn't it be kind of pointless if it didn't?

My husband and I have had our fridge for about 4 years and have never changed out the water filter because honestly we just never thought about it! I am getting a new water filter today because I'm pregnant and have been thinking of everything and realized how long the filter has been on there. It's a Smart Water filter by GE and I was told today it should be changed out every 6 months!! Eek, we haven't changed it in 4 years! Could this be harmful? When I took it off, it looked clean...thanks!
Just wanted to add that the woman at GE said that the water will start slowing down when it is ready to be changed and ours has never slowed down!
I have the GE profile side by side with icemaker and water through the door and filter behind. My instruction manual does say to change the filter every 6 months. That being said, I did forget to do it and the water kept flowing for a while to the ice maker and water dispenser. Once it stopped, I called the warranty repair and the technician told me that it isn't harmful, you are just essentially getting regular, unfiltered tap water through the dispensers. The problem ocurred for us because the tap water here is very hard and the mineral deposits eventually clogged the line which stopped the water from getting to the ice/water dispenser, blew the line off where it enters the fridge and created a huge water mess while the fridge thought it needed to provide water to the dispensers.

im starting this and it will be my first salt water aquarium and i would like to know what type of filter is best, and what is the difference between a reef master test kit and a salt water master test kit and is this (Rena Smart Filter & Filter Cartridge) a good filter?
master reefs usually have phostphate, calcium, and alkalinity tests.. master SW have nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, and pH
the smart filter will be ok but get the one rated for 50-70 gallon tanks.. SW tanks need higher turn over per hour and those ratings are for lightly stocked freshwater tanks anyway

Water is water, but don't give the cat Smart Water because of the things it has in it that make it "smart". Those things in those amounts could be bad for your cat. Never give cats stuff intended for humans.
There is not one shred of proof that bottled waters are any better for you or your pet than ordinary tap water is.
