How do I work the Kenmore Dual Undersink Water Filter?
Filter Chiller

I moved into a home with a Kenmore Dual Undersink Water Filter already installed. When I turned it on this little red light was blinking and my sister said that the water tasted funny. We asked the plumber about it, but he didn't have a clue. I took another look at it and found it runs on batteries, so I switched them out. Now when you turn it on, a green light flashes, but the water still tastes funny. Am I supposed to do something else with it?

Company which provides installation and service of undersink water filter system??
Filter Chiller

I'm looking for an undersink water filter system, however, every company I find online or via the yellowpages seem to just sell the system, then its up to you to organise a plumber to install it, and monitor it for a replacement filter etc.

I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me of a company who services the Sydney (city) area and provides full service - Supplies the system and all its parts, installation and is available for service and new filter installation when required.

Any help would be great.. Thanks :)

what undersink water filter should I get?
Filter Chiller

I want to get the lead out,ha ha but seriously folks I want that and all the bad stuff out and keep in the good minerals. Is that possible?

What about a whole house filter? Then you get pure water from every faucet in your house or apartment, also when showering.
My neighbor just bought the one called Simplypure. I am sure it is able to filter the bad stuff but still leaves the minerals.
Reverse Osmosis as well as distillation filter out everything, also the good stuff. It is not good drinking water.

I'm tired of replacing my undersink water filter cartridges?
Filter Chiller

it seems such a waste. Is there anyone who offers cartridges which have screw off top or bottom so it can simply be refilled with fresh activated carbon? I can find 50 pouinds of activated carbon for like a dollar a pound. That would be about 1/20th the cost of buying a whole plastice cartridge every few months.
re: <<will it still be activated charcoal>>
Well it sat in the side of a mountain for a hundred millenium I would hope the carbon should age well sitting in a pastic bag in my closet. I mean how long do those store filters sit on the shelf before you come along and buy them? Are those still "activated" either? If anything should age pretty well I would hope it would be a charcoal rock.

If your pretty handy, maybe you can modify one of the store bought filters to work. By the way, thanks for a great idea. I think I'll give that a try.

Is an undersink water filtration system better?
Filter Chiller

I have a refrigerator that only has an inline filter instead of the additional (and much desired) second filter in the fridge. We have used the sink faucet one for awhile but it's so expensive, has to be changed a lot, and is always in the way when I'm doing dishes. Would you recommend getting an undersink filtration system or buying something like Culligan delivered already filtered water?

I used to go to the store and buy 5-6 plastic 2.5 gallon water bottles from Sparkletts and always keep one in the fridge, but it wasted space and money (in total). Now we have a Reverse Osmosis water filtration under our sink that came with a spigot. We ran the line thru the spot where the dishwasher drained from since it was already there and I never use the dishwasher. My fiance bought a water tester and the water is currently 0.001 parts per million, and is only supposed to get cleaner with time! We also tested my bottled water and that got 0.003,, and the tap water was at 0.005. It just makes sense to go RO - it's cleaner water, you save money over the life of ownership (we got ours valued at 600 for 150 thru a friend), and you create less waste.

Better Water Quality with Under Sink Water Filter - DivineCaroline

In order to clean and filter water, under sink water filter systems have to be connected to water pipes beneath the sink. The installation of under sink water filter systems requires slightly more work, as it necessitates a connection to water pipes beneath the sink. However, once the installed, these under sink water filter systems only require very light maintenance. As under sink water filter systems use a two-step filtering process, they filter less effectively compared to pitcher filter systems. They are however, in terms of filtration capability, superior to refrigerator-type filtration systems.

Under sink water filter systems share a common disadvantage of having to take up space under a kitchen sink. Also, compared to other types of water filter systems, it costs more to install an under sink water filter system, which is another disadvantage against them. Still, there are under sink water filter systems that are priced to include installation, which means a customer does not need to pay any more unknown charges. While under sink water filter systems vary in price, one can expect to pay an average price of a hundred and fifty dollars. Many of these systems include a minimum of one replacement filter so it is not necessary for customers to buy another replacement filter at the time of purchase.
