i bought a water bottle from target a while ago called fit and fresh filtered water bottle. the top part of the bottle has a small removable filter and the bottom of the bottle can be filled with tap water to be filtered before drinking. i just now opened it and due to the reaction of some people i was wondering if this was truly a good buy. does anyone else have one of these?

I like to have one bottle of this design, this is cut edge design, and may attract lots of eyesight.

I've seen multiple portable water bottle brands that come with an insertable water filter. However, I know that with my water pitcher filter at home, it takes a little bit of time for the water to drip down and filter. Is this the case with these portable bottles as well?

Also, none of these brands state which type of filter they sell/use. Does anyone know which manufacturer sells purified, ceramic, or reverse osmosis filters?

I think you should know that most or all bottle water with filters come with activated carbon filters. Because of the way reverse osmosis (RO) works, I don't think it can be used for a portable water filter. RO systems need pre- and post-filters with the RO filter in between. Also, the filter system usually comes with a storage tank.

If you want to know a good undersink RO filter, there no one better that the 5-stage Multi-Pure MP750 Plus RO (http://www.waterfilters-camping-water-pu rifier.com/Multi-Pure.html). It's NSF-certified and very effective in reducing a lot of chemicals including arsenic.

Also, the reason the pitcher filters very slow is because 1) the pores are very small; 2) your water may be dirty and plugs the holes quickly.

Ones of the best bottle with filter is the Echo stainless steel water bottle which comes internal filter cartridge. It's very popular and it's also NSF-certified so you can be sure it's effective in reducing contaminants.

we have hard water and limescale is building up in the kettle and then going into his bottle. I have bought a filter jug and new kettle ~(as i didnt want to use chemicals to remove the limescale from the old kettle and then make his bottles) and i was wondering if it was ok to use as i know you cant use bottled water cause of the minerals and stuff, but a filter jug just takes the rubbish out doesnt it and not add anything to it?
I was planning on boiling it after it was filtered. hence the reason i bought a new kettle to stop the build up of limescale.
So..it is ok to filter then boil the water and then make up babies bottle??

no its something to do with the mineral content check the baby formula box or ring the helpline they will explain it,

I would really like to find a plastic water bottle (something simple like a nalgene bottle) that has a filter in it... Something decently priced. I've been to thewatergeeks.com website and I like their original green filtered bottle, but that isn't available anymore... please help!
I want it to be a personal water bottle not a filtered water pitcher...

I own a very good quality built in water bottle filter and i bought it from Walmart.
Try your hardest to get a brita because they have proved to work the best for me.

I have to make a filter out of a two liter pop bottle for school it's due tomorrow. I need to know what to put in it so that it makes the water "Drinkable" and I can't use anything that's already a filter.

From Top of bottle to bottom:

gravel
dirt
peastones
sand
filter material (hay, grass, leaves of safe trees (oak, maple))

the goal is the farther down you get the finer material you take out of your water. you might also try cotton or window screen material (*not designed for filtration*).

you COULD use just sand but a lot of the large particles will build up very fast and block water flow. If you only have small particles when you get to the sand level your filter will last longer.
