I bought a cheap Culligan water pitcher from Walgreens for $10 that's charcoal filtered. The water tasted very strange. I normally drink tap water and like it a lot, but once filtered it added a strange taste at the end. Almost reminds me of lemon. My boyfriend agrees the water tastes different but not necessarily with the lemon comparison.
I have had water from Brita pitchers and don't recall it having the weird taste. Has anyone else experienced this? What causes it?
Your first sentence of your question is the problem. When you buy commie made garbage from Walgreens. I use brita and don't ever have a problem. Also, when you buy a new pitcher, you are supposed to dump the first few pitchers of water out, but i am assuming that you knew that already.

Example (for plastics): In 2006, Americans drank about 167 bottles of water each year. Bottled water costs between $1 and $4 per gallon, costing $167-$668 a yaer. two reusable ccanteen cost $24 plus the cost of a water filter on a container in $20 a year. This would save $123-$624 a year!
ANy cost comparison/ savings about cell phones would do!

Espresso, caffitiaire, percolator, filter? Which gets the most out of the quantity of coffee you use?
I am presuming the heating of a quantity of water is by electricity for comparison, and the quantity is realatively the same.
I am after 2 large cups at one brewing.
It seems there are two types of people answering.
Those who enjoy good coffee, and those who would drink any old c**p.
I would like to use real ground coffee somewhere in the process please.
. .
Filter in a way.
You can buy a filter that you put in your mug, put a spoon of coffee in it and pour the water on top, leave it there till it has got the right strength for you. 2 cups - use 2 of the filters.
Espresso and perculator and the water goes through but doesnt get all the coffee out, same with filter.
New 50gal. tank, 2 Demasoni 2 Socolofi 1 Red Empress 1 Electric Blue Ahli 1 Gold Nugget Plac. (all juveniles) Water tests are fine except my ammonia was high(1) made 25% water change and added more carbon to my filter because there was very little in it from the start. Ammonia still at (1) using Jungle Quick Dip to test. These strips seem hard to get the color comparison right.
First I'd recommend picking up the liquid dropper test kits. API makes one that test high ph, ph, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates for about 30.00, and it's much more accurate then the dipsticks. Personally, I think they're all hard to read lol.
Second, since your tank is new, it's most likely going through what's called the cycle process. Not sure how familiar you are with it, but here's a link, it's the first article:

So ammonia at this point is normal. The symptoms the fish are showing is most likely due to the water quality/ammonia present in the tank. It can also be a sign of a parasite infection as well, so I'd keep an eye on them. It's common for ich to show up in fish when the water quality is off, because of the stress on the fish.
Just keep doing daily water changes to help dilute the ammonia and eventually the nitrites in the tank. If you can get your hands on some gravel or filter drippings from an established and disease free tank, that would help greatly in almost instantly cycling your tank.

Portable Water Filter Comparisons For The Home
There are many different kinds of water filters out now in order to combat all of the pollutants, heavy metals and chemicals found in even the most innocent looking and neutral-smelling public water supply. But along with the differences in filtration media, there are also big differences in size and price. Here is an easy portable water filter comparison for home units.
Cartridges
Although there are many water filtration units for the entire home or to attach to your faucet, there aren’t very many very small, portable units that can be taken from room to room or used in camping, hiking or in RVs. Many people can only afford a pitcher-type device that uses cartridges filled with different kinds of filtering material. This is where portable water filter comparisons concentrate.

There are several water filter companies manufacturing the filters which facilitate reverse osmosis. While discussing regarding water filter and water filtration systems and office water coolers, the concept of reverse osmosis is of immense importance. Leading Australian medical practitioners prefer the water filters and water filtering systems that allow reverse osmosis process. It is a fact that intake of several particles can be highly dangerous for our body but on the contrary there also remain several minerals which are essential for proper body functioning.
Previously offices preferred bottled water coolers, in this system pure and mineral waters contained jars and bottles were kept attached with the water dispensers. The filtered water from the bottle used to come out through the different water dispensers. There are different types of drinking foundations that allow flow...
