Does the sound of water dripping into the fish tank from water pump or filter bothers the fish?
Ceramic Membrane

I have 2 goldfish and I'm wondering if the sound of the water dripping into their tank from the water filter bothers them and if I should turn it of once in a while.
Also I would like to know why every time I change 75% of the water in the tank, I get a bacterial bloom?

No the filter noise wont bother them. Stand beside a small waterfall or rapids in a river, it's noisey, the fish dont care.

As for your bacterial bloom, try doing smaller water changes. more often, 25% at a time.

What may be happening is your tap water has traces of phosphate / nitrate etc When you add this to the tank the extra nutrients encourage a bloom of algae, diatoms or bacteria and the water goes cloudy for a while. Then things settle down, untill the next big water change. Smaller water changes, less cloudiness and it will clear up faster.

What kind of water pump and filter can my Betta fish tolerate?
Ceramic membrane System (1)

I have a lovely Betta and I put him in a 12 gallon tank - more room than he needs but I want him to be happy. Obviously, tank maintenance is a concern of mine. I want a pump and filter that will not move the water too much for him and allow him freedom of movement, but I just can't tell what pump and filter would be right or how much they would cost.

If he is all that you have in the tank then you won't need a whole lot of filtration. Which is great because you want a pretty calm situation for a Betta. You could use a sponge bio-filter that is driven by an air pump, or you could use a small power driven in tank filter. Marineland makes a line called Duetto Filters. Their Mini filter is adjustable for flow rates as low as 2 and as high as 40 gallons per hour. I think this would be a very good filter for your application. I have used Duettos before myself and they are dependable, easy to maintain and do a pretty decent job. If you can't find one locally, they are available at http://www.DrsFosterSmith.com and cost about $20.

where do i install a particulate filter for a water tank/water pump?
Ceramic Membrane(2)

i am installing a water pump and water tank. do i install a 5 micron filter before the pump or before the tank. the pump will be used to pump water from the tank to the house water main.
water for the tank will come from regular city water.
the water in our place is erratic so many people have installed tanks so they can have steady water pressure.

Install between pump from the ground and the tank to protect the tank you should also install whole house filter after tank to protect appliances and water heater.

Why House Water Filters Are Necessary

Have you come to the conclusion or figured out that house water filters are necessary for living a comfortable life? There have been an awful lot of reports published on this matter, and one would think that it would have become rather obvious by this point, especially when you consider how contaminated the water these days happens to be, but it seems that not everyone has figured out that it is imperative to own a water filter.

People think that the EPA and waste water facilities are going to save them from the contaminated water, but one has to consider how hard it is to clean the water. Yes, these government services are doing all that they can to keep the water clean, but is it enough for them to promise that we won’t be hurt at all? Absolutely not, it’s just too much work to keep the water that clean.

There has not been enough funding for the water treatment facilities to upgrade to equipment that will help them to deal with the growing amount of water contamination, and a total refit of the current systems would be in order to actually make a difference. This is the reason that a home water filter system is necessary for both your health and the health of your family.

"My mate kenny" has a fish pond, I know this because I dug the fucking thing. he says WE dug it, but WE didn't, I dug it while he stood in the way with his spotless british army spade, (never used in anger), telling me how good he is at a digging, and asking me how he was supposed to explain away the four ton of dirt that had miraculously appeard on his neighbours lawn. This is "my mate kenny's" way. If we only had one spade, he would either lean on it while he regaled me with stories loosely based on how good he is at digging, Or I would dig while he drank beer and regaled me with stories loosely based on how good he is at digging, interspersed with claims that he feels really guilty because I am doing all the digging, although he is really good at it. On this occasion we had two spades, so he could get in the way of my swing, and regale me with stories looseley based on how good he is at digging. "My mate kenny" has a way of doing things that is both confusing and frustrating in equal...
