Is Kangen Water really beneficial?
R.O.Tack water technology reverse osmosis plant pakistan on Vimeo by rotack

Someone was trying to sell this water purification/treatment equipment and he cited all the benefits of drinking this water he called "Kangen Water". He made it sound like a "cure-for-all" thing.

My family and I have had Kangen water machines for over a year now and we are positive that the water is beneficial. I don't know about it being a "cure all" - although there have been tons of studies on how it helps Diabetes, Cancer, and other serious diseases. The technonogy has been in japan for over 30 years and many doctors and hospitals use the water. I do know that I havent gotten sick (even with a common cold) since I have had the machine. My Aunt's chronic fatigue is gone, as well as her acid reflux. There is no sediment in the water- that other person must have had a dirty bottle or something. If you want more info, please let me know- I have a lot.

I'm supposed to get a small pension, in about ten years, from a company I can no longer locate. Sybron,in 90's
complete, mineral, water, plant, 5,000 gpd obo mineral water

They took over the company I worked for (Barnstead Co.) and closed the W Roxbury,Ma. location. I only have a piece of paper telling me that I should receive $50.00/month when I'm 59. I have moved multiple times since the early 90's and forgot about this paper until it was found during a move. They don't have my current address.I went on a gov.web site but only found a dental co. subsidiary. They used to make water purification equipment and compete with Millipore. I need the corp.headquarters address (I think). Has too much time passed? TIA

Looking onthe WEB I was able to find a pension plan for a New Hampshire company called Barnstead Thermolyne, who appears to now be a division of Thermo Fisher.

The last government filing for that plan is at the website below and shows the following address as plan adminstrator:

Plan administrator's name and address (if same as plan sponsor, enter"Same")

APOGENT EMPLOYEE BENEFITS COMMITTEE
48 CONGRESS ST
PORTSMOUTH, NH 03801-4054

3b Administrator's EIN

16-1072777

3c Administrator's telephone number

603-433-6131

I would try the above number and if you strike out, try calling human resources at Thermo Fisher. As a big conglomerate, expect to have trouble finding the right person to talk to.

As best as I can see, Barnstead is still alive and kicking but got transferred from Sybron to Apogent to Thermo. Thermo and Fisher Scientific merged last year so now its part of Thermo Fisher.

From your perspective, it's difficult to know where the plan finally landed. 1. It could still be operating, in which case the best place to call is Barnstead's corporate office. 2. It could have been merged into a Sybron or Apogent or Thermo or Thermo Fisher plan, in which case the Thermo Fisher Human Resource people are the best to talk to. or 3. It could have been terminated; if so your benefit is with either the PBGC (which takes over failed plans and accepts payment for participants who can't be found) or dumped on an insurance company.

So, You should:

call the number at the top to see if anyone knows about your plan

Check out the www.PBGC.gov website to see if you are in their database as a "missing participant"

Try calling various divisions of Thermo Fisher to see if anyone knows about the Barnstead Pension Plan.

Are people really harsh these days in judging Muslims when it comes to responses to natural disasters? I think these Muslim countries know that when there is a crisis, they are actually depended upon for international humanitarian aid [very significantly depended upon].

If we were an uncharitable and self-centered bunch of people, then why does Islaam advocates caring for one other's safety as mentioned in the Noble Qur'an that whomsoever who saves one human, it is as if he saves the whole humanity? Qur'an (5:32)

I do not understand the negativity and sentimentality against us whenever a crisis is at hand. And then when the crisis is over, our efforts are unacknowledged and forgotten. Despite that, many Muslim countries are still providing humanitarian aid whenever a natural disaster of this magnitude happens. Does that not prove your negative assumptions of the Muslims wrong?

Or are you still convinced that we will never help anyone else except our own selves?

For my Muslim brothers and sisters, make Duaa' for them to be relieved of this stress, Insha Allah. Aameen.

Assalamu 'Alaykum.
Good point there, askme!
*Malaysia. I didn't realize I nationalized the word instead up there.

Yes you are so right brother, some people are really quick to judge, and they don't leave a single opportunity to point fingers at the Muslims.

Just after the Haiti disaster, I saw some 10 questions, all along the lines "Why are Muslim countries not sending money to Haiti?"

First of all they need to understand that most majority Muslim countries have issues of their own, and wars in their own country... but still the countries which are able to send things, like you listed above, are doing so.

It's disgusting - but I think that some people are just taking opportunities after a natural disaster is struck to show off, and put others down. There seems to be like a competition, "Oh us Americans, the good guys are sending more help then you" - this attitude I noticed in some of the questioners. But they should know that when we Muslims give charity, we don't brag around to the whole world how much we are giving.

I hope they understand that every little helps. The Islamic society at university is doing all they could to raise money for Haiti...And I hope others can too, instead of coming here on Yahoo and pointing fingers at others...

This answer I give does not apply to all, there are only a few ignorant bunch here on Yahoo.

How long would it take for the world to recover from a series of EMP nuclear attacks?
Water Purification

EMP is disruptive energy from nuclear weapons that destroys all electrical equipment. It will take out our power grid, car ignitions, refrigeration, infrastructure, and water purification plants (no electricity, no running water, no infrastructure).

So if EMP destroys the whole world's infrastructure in a massive was, how long would it take to re-build? Keep in mind that in that scenario, there WILL be shortages of food and water, there WILL be anarchy, there WILL be survival of the fittest, there WILL be massive fallout, but there will also be a small handful of government officials and scientists hiding in bunkers.

So how long would it take to rebuild the infrastructure and cities completely after an EMP nuclear war?

EMP's that you are referring to are simply 'Nukes' detonated in the upper atmosphere. We do have modern EMP devices that are effective against point targets at very short range. Electronic equipment is the most sensitive to this effect. Its effect on our power grid is another question, because the range and duration of EMP1's,EMP2's, and EMP3's are different; although they are all part of a single blast. It would be many times more effective to drop the nukes on the targets of greatest strategic value. I would bet that EMP's will go the way of the Hydrogen bomb; theyre just not practicle. Restoration after such an event would be surprsingly quick because the structure of our power supply system would still be in tact.

I would really like a pet fish!?

Ever since i was little i've wanted a pet fish. Without telling my parents would this be possible? If i just went down to the pet shop and bought one with my own money, along with all the equipment food and bowl ect. I would also like to know how much this would cost. These are the main questions i would like to ask:
Do I need a professional fish tank? Or can I use a 'bowl'?
Do I need to buy say two fish so the one doesn't get lonely?
How much fish food do I need to buy per month? and how much does this cost?
Would i need to buy a purification system or special water?
How much does the fish actually cost? (I don't want a goldfish, but i would like a nice easy to look after fish. I saw some in dobbies once and when you put your finger to the glass they 'gobbled', i like them alot)
And last one, How much would it be all together?
I want to prove to my parents that I'm responsible and I really want to look after an animal by myself.
Thanks! :)

T he price of a fish depends on what kind your buying but they range form 5-20 if you want a simple fish... um i would try a betta fish they are gourgeous but you dont want two of the same fish in a bowl or they will fight each other no matter the sex... Fish food will cost i think 10 dollars and it will last about a month depends on how many fish you want though. Betta fish are really colorful and should make your parents smile if they see how pretty they are... Betta fish rarely get lonely mainly becuase if you put a mirror to the bowl it will think it is another fish and will try to fight it....lol dont worry it wont kill itself!!! =]

So bassiclly the amount you will need is about fourty to fifty dollars try to get allownance to help raise money and to show your parents how helpful you are!!!

G00D LUCK!!!! =]
