I want to know if one can use water,that has a water softner system,I want to know if it will hurt the plants,I know that salt is not good for plants if to much it will kill them,but I did not know if the softner system has to much salt,please let me know....
Honestly i don't think you'll have much of a problem and if you do it won't be enough to notice. I have brackish (salt ) water aquariums and always am watering my gardens with the water while cleaning the tanks. If it was a continuous thing you were doing everyday then it might not be such a great idea, but once a week or once every couple of days then maybe not.

The builder for my new house has suggested zeta rod system which doesn't use salt, vs other water softerner systems that do/or do not use salt. Does anyone have it? How good is it working for you?
My dad got a water softener system that gave him a lot of trouble. He replaced it with a system by Kinetico because it was easy to use and easy to maintain. It has worked wonderfully for many years for my mom. Kinetico water softeners use the kinetic energy of moving water instead of electricity to power the system so there is no AC running to it. It just worked out really well for him.

he water softner system cost around $500 at Lowes and with installation and everything it will roughly be $1000 (including reverse osmosis filteration).
On the other hand, we had a representative from GE-Aqua-pure selling water softner+osmosis system with installation for $2900. He claims the system is better than HomeDepot and other places. Does anyone has experience to share with water softners. Thanks
go with the one at lowes, they all work the same, it,s like buying a screw driver at sears for $10, and the same thing at a hardware store, for $3, name brand is just that, the factorys make the same thing and put diffrent names on it,

We are with rainsoft, they have great products!
Kinetico's are pretty cool. They are non-elecric twin tank units providing 24 hour soft water. No clocks to set, just add salt. Drawback is price, flow rate, and many moving parts.
Culligan is O.K. i think most of their control valves are based on the fleck design now. So you can by a Fleck, say from a plumber, and get basically the same unit for less money.
Autotrol is a decent control valve also. They have changed their design very little in 50 years...why? because it works pretty good. Drawback is plugged injector problems (you'll get this with Fleck and Culligan too) and the company that makes it, Osmonics, was recently aquired by General Electric, so things could go to shit over there in a hurry! (hehe I work for GE!)
STAY AWAY FROM: Sears brand, GE brand, Eco, Hague, Waterboss, any unit that doesn't have a seperate brine tank. Why would you stick any appliance down into a corrosive salt water tank?

I bought my water softener from the manufacturer’s website because I was tired of dealing with the salt in my old water softener. It definitely works as good if not better than my old system did, and I can’t tell you how glad I am that I won’t have to throw salt bags around. I haven’t had to replace my filter yet, but it looks like it is going to be very easy. (I was glad to see the other comment about using a towel).
I definitely recommend getting this water softener if you have hard water in your area, or scale build up.
I was skeptical until I learned that this company has been using the same technology in commercial kitchens/laundry facilities for years. It seemed too good to be true. . . . half the cost of a traditional “salt” water softener and no more trips up and down the stairs carrying 40 lb bags of salt! The unit softens the water and even cleans the “scale” out of our existing pipes. No problems so far, works great. Were we wrong about it not working. We read all the different reviews and agree that the review timelines seemed a “little suspect”. We couldn’t be happier that we were proven wrong. The unit came in 4 days from time order was placed, was easy to install ( minor plumbing skills required). When we first put the water on we could feel a difference in the water, we called a neighbor over that has been in our neighborhood for 15 years and has dealt ad nauseam with the hard water in our area. She was amazed at water coming out of the tap, she asked if she could wash her hair in the sink!!!! She did and said that her hair hasn’t felt that good since she was on vacation . As far as the claims that it helps clear residual build up in shower heads and faucet heads, well again we were amazed. The shower head in our bath has always had a few “sprayers” that dribbled water. In the span of one week the shower is spraying out of all “sprayers” and giving us the best shower our tankless water heater ever gave us!!!! The biggest thing we have noticed is that the water feels better on our skin, hair, clothes, and dishes are coming cleaner (no spots). I am a contractor and I prefer to use new products ( tankless water heaters, dual flow toilets, etc. ) on my own home before I recommend any “new technology” to anyone. I can say in my opinion this product works and works well !!! The company has great customer service and I was very pleased with the purchase. hope this helps anyone looking for a solution to hard water issues.
...Water Softener? and quot;You#39;re NOT DATING SOMEONE!?!?quot;
Okay, tonight I need a little help and have a story to share in return. A few weeks ago a salesman came by and tried to sell me a "water softener system". He insisted on letting his company bring a water softener in for me to try "free for a month!". Deciding that I didn't want to stand here talking to this guy anymore, I said fine, bring it by. So, the next night they bring one by, and I should have just told him I'd changed my mind right then, because HE wasn't trying to sell me anything! Anyway, tonight they sent over another salesman who wanted to come in my home, test things out and then show me how wonderful this new water softener is. To start things off, he was a nice guy, though pushy and smelled strongly of cologne and talked about a million miles an hour! He came in and showed me two tests with some hard vs. soft water samples (10 min) - THEN, seeing that I was pretty skeptical,...
