help with changing pool water?
Poolside Patty I

hey everyone i just recently moved into a friends house with a pool and i decided to take responsibility of maintaining the pool. right now its a little fuzzy, you cant really see the bottom but the water is blue... nothing like a nasty green or anything like that. my friend has been running the filter 24/7 to try and clean the water up. i dont really know anything about maintaining a pool so i was wondering if it would just be easier and cheaper to drain the pool and fill it up... any help would be appreciated

Take a water sample to the local pool store. They will test it and sell you the appropriate chemicals to clean it up. I doubt you will have to drain it and refill it. Just filtering wont clean it up. You probably need an algaecide or something... Good Luck with it!

A small wash bucket for feet and a tarp to cover it up when your not using it. Get a little strainer for collecting debris that get in.

How do I change my swimming pool water from Chlorine to salt water?
The watcher becomes the watched one.

My pool is contollrd by chlorine tablets, but the water may be bad for my wife's skin. We are considering changing to salt water. <<<<<<<<<<<is this easy and is it costly?

A salt pool is just a way of generating chlorine for the water. It requires levels of salt at 3,500-4,000ppm and this water passes through a generator cell that converts the free floating chlorine ions (from the sodium chloride... salt) into hypochlorous acid (the compound in all chlorinated pools).

If your wife has a problem with chlorine then she will have a problem with a salt chlorinated pool as well unfortunately.

You can easily convert it.... stop using chlorine for 48-72 hours. Add enough salt to raise the levels to 4,000ppm. Install the generator cell between the pump and the filter. Plug it in and let it run for a few days on high settings, check the chlorine levels to ensure they are between 3-5ppm, then adjust the generator back down to maintain these levels.

You don't need the pool store to do it, you don't need special things to do it, and you still need to maintain the rest of the water chemistry... the only thing you don't have to do is maintain chlorine tablets in the water.

You have to clean the cells in weak hydrochloric acid solution periodically and this removes some of the precious metals on the cells. This means you have to replace them every couple years ($200+ depending on the type) so the cost washes out to be about the same for traditional chlorination vs salt. Initial cost can be a few thousand depending on the type you get.

how long should a swimming pool water can be use before changing to a fresh water?

considering theres no proper cleaning and the pump and filter they dont on?

Weird phrasing of the question. But I believe I can answer it. A pool with no circulation or chemicals will not last very long without turning green and breeding algae. Probably at most a week.

  • How do I do a water change with a sump?

All I do is pull the plug on the pump and do a water change like everyone else. My out flow tubes that hang over and inside the tank have a hole drilled in each one to prevent an over flow in the tide pool area. By having the hole in the out flow tubes allows air in so it doesn't suck all the water from the tank and into the tide pool. I'm not sure if a sump does this. Drill a small hole near the water surface, it doesn't matter much if a bit below the water line as long as Wet/Dry sump filters since you should have plenty of volume of air in the return chamber to accept a bit of water being siphoned back once the pump is off. Once the water level in the main tank reaches the small drilled hole, some air will enter there and brake the shipon. After you are done with your partial water change, turn the return pump on. If the return fails (that could happen when using a pump in the upper threshold of its head pressure) simply lay down the return hose (use a bucket to collect some water...

&Nbsp;      Internationally famous artist and financially extremely successful Sally, invites her fellow Bohemians around for an overdue get-together, and to wallow in her new swimming pool. As they dance the night away, they recall how as young art students they would regularly go skinny-dipping, the wild parties and their close friendships. They then talk with admiration of the wonderful generosity of their hostess, her visits to sick children’s wards, hospices and homes of the poor. Now, however, her old friends are battlers, scraping a living together from the odd sale of a painting, are exceedingly envious. consisted mainly of a central unit, about the size of a large snooker table with a surface of changing lights, which was employed as the swimming pool – a very impressive opening scene of the artist swimming – and then as the hospital bed.

Trent Suidgeest’s lighting design consisted mainly of powerful spots at shoulder height, which gave the faces a crisp aura against the stark black background. When the drama hit the various climaxes the lighting would turn to a stark icy cold white. Very well thought out design.
