How well does aluminum hold up in chlorinated pool water?
Homie G

I need to install hand rails around a hot tub and wonder if aluminum would work well.

Aluminum is not a good choice, even if it's anodized, painted, or powder coated. Pool water is corrosive mostly due to the chloride from chlorination. Steel is slightly less prone to corrosion. Plastic or fiberglass is the best choice.

Why does chlorinated pool water make my skin look darker?
Dang! The Lion! :D

After l went swimming, l noticed that my skin was darker than it usually is. The spots where my bathing suit was covering me looked a lot lighter. Why is that?

if you were swimming outside, it's definitely a tan! if not, its probably just the pressure from your suit.

Can I wear jewelry in a pool or chlorinated water?
INTENSE!

Few days back I got my belly button pierced & am going to get a gold belly ring. The thing I wanted to know is whether it is ok to wear it in a pool or chlorinated water. Some say that if the water has correct ph than there is nothing to worry about but I am confused & would like to know what you think.

If you take my advice I would say avoid wearing any kind of jewelry in pools or chlorinated water as their is a possibility of jewelry getting damaged or loose its shine.

Chlorinated Pools May Contribute to Asthma and Respiratory Allergies

Asthma is the leading cause of chronic illness in children, affecting as many as 9 million children in the United States; a number that has dramatically increased over the past two decades. And though no one really knows why more and more children are developing the disease, there are a number of theories. Some experts suggest the increase may be due to limited access to care, especially those living in inner-city neighborhoods, and to poor asthma management and education. Others say children arent exposed to enough childhood illnesses to build up their immune system. Still others suggest that, because todays kids spend more time indoors than before, they are increasingly exposed to asthma-triggering allergens, such as dust mites and polluted air. But researchers in Belgium propose another explanation for the 86.8 percent spike in asthma among children since 1982chlorinated swimming pools. For their study, Alfred Bernard, a toxicology professor at Catholic University of Louvain in Brussels,...

Is swimming pool chlorine fueling the allergy epidemic? - Soundoff

WRONG!  The hysteria over chlorine is once again the result of science-illiteracy and incomplete studies.  I have had severe asthma since childhood, and have NEVER had a problem with chlorinated pools.  In fact, chlorine is the ONLY way to effectively kill all bacteria and viruses, including the HIV virus, in swimming pools.  This is because chlorine as an element is highly reactive and binds with everything, and thus is very effective in disrupting the ability of germs from replicating.  The so-called ''salinated'' pools are a failure, since the ionization-salination process only occurs in a small chamber through which pool water is recycled, and thus is virutally useless in killing harmful germs.  Moreover, chlorinating water is far more effecfive in controlling skin problems, such as athlete's foot, psoriasis, and even acne.  Since pools have adopted the ''salination'' process, incidents of infections, skin rashes, and athletes foot have sky rocketed.  As a severe asthmatic, I DEMAND that all pools return to CHLORINATION.
