I Just bought my pool and fill it up it took 5 hours and I don't want to re-filled it and waste water. This is actually my first big pool and I have no clue of how to keep it clean and fresh. We opened the pool and the water is very green. Would it be better to empty the water and start from scratch with new water or buy chemicals and try to get it clean?
I would start from scratch. I had the same problem a couple years ago. I used alot of chemicals but it just wasn't clean enough for me so I then drained the pool.
Price: $299.00
Totally independent; no hoses or cords needed

My pool was green and I went to a swimming pool store and I they told me to put acid, to shock it, and put in some stuff to kill the green in the pool. I did all of this and my pool has no green anymore but the water is not clear. I cannot see the bottom of the pool. What do I have to do to get it clear?
The water is cloudy blue.
Cloudy swimming pool water can result from one of several factors:
the pH is too high;
the total alkalinity level is too high;
the stabiliser level is too high;
the chlorine level is too low;
the calcium hardness level is too high;
the level of total dissolved solids is too high;
there are high levels of metals (discoloured pool water);
there is a lot of pool algae growth;
the filter needs cleaning or servicing;
there is a large quantity of microscopic particles in the pool water.
Use a test kit to see what chemicals you need to put into your pool.
Is there any way, other than replacing the liner, to remove algea stains from the bottom of an above ground pool? The water is clean and the pool is free of algea, yet the liner has been stained from previous exposure to algea.
Have you tried algecide. It comes in gallon jugs. If that doesn't work get that scrub brush out.

Creative Water Solutions: Cleaning Your Pool Naturally, With Moss ...
Few people enjoy the eye-stinging sensation of a pool cleaned with chlorine. And really, it doesn't feel too good knowing that you're swimming in a giant chemical-filled tub, anyway. Enter Creative Water Solutions , a start-up that has developed a moss-based pool treatment system.
According to the company, sphagnum moss stops the formation of biofilm, or bacterial colonies in pools. While chlorine kills free-floating bacteria, biofilm absorb it and increasing amounts of chemicals are needed to maintain the pool, creating what CWS deems an "unmanageable and uncomfortable chemical soup". Since moss attacks the biofilm directly, fewer chemicals like chlorine and cyanuric acid (a chemical used to stabilize chlorine) are needed to keep the pool clean.
There's plenty of sphagnum moss available for the taking--it's one of the reasons that Minnesota's many lakes are so clear and pristine. At the moment, CWS imports moss from New Zealand since the country harvests it commercially to germinate orchids. If moss-based pool treatments take off, though, it's likely that companies a bit closer to CWS' home base will get in on the harvesting action.
...Wash a stone, restore some history « Beyond The Ghosts…A Cemetery Blog
Thinking about cleaning an old headstone?
I thought about it too and was scared to death that I would ruin the delicate sandstone material but since so many headstones in the Saar Pioneer Cemetery were quite unreadable, I had to do something.
The biggest challenge is that these stones are in a very fragile condition and the wrong cleaning process would damage them beyond repair. After spending a lot of time browsing through the tips from the Association For Gravestone Studies (AGS) and the Chicora Foundation , I realized several stones were best left alone but that others could be successfully cleaned without further damage.
However, I did not think it necessary to clean the black lichen out of the engraved lettering as I believed cleaning it would do more damage to the lettering. Plus, the lichen makes for easier inscription reading for visiting genealogists.
