Is there an easy way to keep the water in an inflatable kiddie pool longer than a few days? What kind of additive can keep the water clear and clean and how much would be added to a 1' x 4' x 9' amount of water?
You can buy chlorine at Wal-mart for smaller pools. There are charts to calculate your pool capacity and chart to tell you how much to add based on the size of your pool.

I am going on a 2-month overseas holiday and am concerned that my swimming pool water might fall below the optimal level (through evaporation) for the pool filter/pump to effectively clean the water.
Apart from spending money to get a pool cover to reduce the rate of water loss through evaporation, I am interested to find out any other practical ways to automatically top up the pool (without human intervention) when I am away.
Tough one......can't you have someone top it off once a week when they are checking the house?
Good Luck!
My husband and I just filled our pool and to our suprise, our water is extremely rusty. The water is a dark orange and we can't see the bottom. We have added the chlorine and shock treatment, but with this being our first pool, we are looking for some guidance. We would like to be able to learn to do this ourselves. My husband is planning on taking a water sample to our local pool/spa store in the morning, but we were are hoping for honest answers and not someone just looking to make money. We would greatly appreciate any help!
If your water is this bad then your neighbors are likely to know about it. From your description it sounds like you have iron in your water but it suspiciously sounds like the pipe used to fill the pool may have been dedicated to the pool and may be the source of the rust or contamination. Possibly the pipe has a hole or crack in it and is allowing soil to come into your pool???
The pool supply place may help. I would pump the water out and check for a water delivery service to deliver "pool water" to you.
The question remains if the water is this bad what is your house water like?
You're welcome!!
We have jus topped off our pool to ope it for the summer. We have well water. We have had the pool water tested twice and all is good except it is green in color. Thre is no algae, slime or mold in the water an all we can think that it is is the rust in the water. Does anyone know what to add, or what to do to rmove rust from pool water? Thank you.
Get a full spectrum analysis done at your local pool store. Make sure they check free chlorine, total chlorine, combined chlorine, pH, alkalinity, hardness, total dissolved solids, metals (manganese, copper, iron), nitrites/nitrates, and phosphates.
Post the results back here or feel free to email them to me at robandliz1992@yahoo.com
Copper is what will give your water a greenish tint. You can use a metal sequestering agent to "lock" the metals in the water into a compound that won't stain the pool or hair.
Bacterial iron is a common problem with well water. It is a bacteria that feeds on iron. It used to be a fairly limited phenomena but has recently started a dedicated spread across the US and can be found in a majority of wells that didn't have it before. When these bacteria contact chlorine they are killed, but in dying they drop the iron out of their cell structure. Unfortunately the iron they drop is an organic form and this is the most dangerous to liners and hair as well.
Only a full spectrum water test will give us the information we need to get your pool sparkling clear.
I keep my chemical levels in good range everyday. When the pool filter (cartridge) is running, the water is blue but not clear (cannot see the bottom). When I turn off the filter and leave it off for a couple of days or more, the water stays blue and I can see the whole bottom of the pool. So I just turn filter on only when I need to add chlorine. Then water isn't clear after that. Do I need to buy new cartridges?
probably dirt dust.ect it blows out into the pool and makes it dirty.Just change the filter

Radical Radiance: A Fast After All
, The process whereby the body is digesting its own dead and dying cells. In the body’s wisdom, it selectively decomposes those cells and tissues that are in excess, diseased, damaged, aged, or dead. This allows for an improved ratio of healthy cells in the body. Since this is a time of increased off-loading of toxins it puts a cleansing demand on the many organs involved. During a fast we must give extra care to supporting the Why Juice Fast? Juice fasting is a form of fasting in which organic, living-food juice supplies enzymes and living micro-nutrients that further aid the cleansing process. In comparison to water fasting, there also tends to be fewer healing crises or depletion of energy. Since juices are high in minerals, vitamins and enzymes, which help with the rejuvenating process of the body, the juices are assimilated directly into the body without stimulating digestive enzymes. The properties of juices help to neutralize acidic conditions (from which many people suffer)...

Keeping It Clean
Use an aquarium vacuum that you can buy at any pet store or pet area of a department store. This simple tool is basically a long hose with a broad based suction head to travel over as much area as possible while being comfortable to control. This should be done once a week in the summer months. You will need to restore the water you remove in the course of cleaning.
Add a waterfall or other water aeration to hold algae down. A waterfall or aerator adds oxygen to the water which is beneficial if you wish to keep fish in your pond as well as to reduce algae levels. They also help keep the water circulating and temperature lower to evade an algae bloom that will make your water green.
Light It Up
Position lights in strategic locations around the edge of your pool in the plants, rocks, or even beneath the surface of the water. Set the timer to turn on a few minutes before sunset, and set it to turn off a few minutes after your ordinary bedtime. Using timers will cut the cost of lighting your pond so that the lights are only on during the times you are most likely to see them.
