If ok, does it need to be sealed?
listen....this is very simple......pool tile from the manufacturer will be for pools....cold climates.....commercial pools......i promise you that you will severely regret having any stone (natural) on the water line and with limestone even on the coping......it is soft will be rough on your body...like pumice....and is impossible to get clean .....it holds green and black algae because it is so porice......look on two websites for tile......daltile.com and lauderdaletile.com..........i promise i have installed it as coping on the top of steps in the pool and so on and it never works out

Sure if you need to spend the effort and time. The only issue you need to address is the fact that your equipment in now below grade. Easy to overcome. Install ball valves on both the suction line (before the pump) and return line ( after the last piece of equipment before the pool). I suggest ball valves since they're pretty easy to operate with a simple twist unlike a gate valve that requires multiple turns of the handle.
Installing isolator valves like this, lets you do almost all maintenance tasks or even swap out equipment without dealing with a flood, if your equipment is below grade.
i have a pool that is pebble tech bottom but tile around the water line. its a darker color tile and i have a white (calcium?) buildup around the whole pool. How do i get rid of it?!?! i tried a pool soap that said it worked but DIDNT, and I tried CLR but it didnt seem to work either. any help?
See if your local pool store can find some "Scale-B-Gone". I hate the name, but love the product. Be careful with it, though. It bites! Paint it on- it's a gel- and let it sit about 10 minutes. Then rinse it off. CAUTION: use ONLY on pool tile. It will burn holes in anything else. After you get rid of the buildup, clean the tile weekly with comet to avoid this problem in the future.
We have very hard water in the area we live and it's leaving mineral deposits on the tile in our pool. Please advise us the best way to clean the water line and remove these deposits.. Thank you
You need to balance your water properly.
Some pool tiles from our inground pool have fallen off (the ones at the water line) I wanted to reattach them. What is the correct grout/materials to use?
Also, I have drained some of the water. Is there any other prep?
Try to remove as much of the thinset under the tile that came off as you can. Clean this area as well as you can, as the thinset you will be using has to be able to bond to a clean surface.
Use thinset mortar that can be used in outdoor applications. Home Depot has some, just ask.
Let dry 24 hours after application, grout, let dry, and enjoy your pool.
Advice to new swimming pool owners | My Pool Guru Blog
A new house and it has a swimming pool and you are not sure how to maintain it then this article is for you. Even if you have had a pool for a while you may pick up some tips.
There are two types of in-ground pool, a liner pool and a concrete pool. Concrete pools can be made of solid concrete or have blockwork walls on a concrete floor. Liner pools have a thin concrete shell against the earth with a vinyl waterproof lining laid upon it. If you have a liner pool take a look at our General Liner Care article too.
So lets start with the water in your pool. It is not a good idea to drain your pool. In the case of liner pool you should never drain it. This is because the ground pressure on the outside of the pool is equalised by the pressure of the water on the inside. If the inside pressure is removed the sides of the pool could collapse.
The sump draws water from the bottom of the pool and the skimmer sucks water from the surface of the pool dragging with it any floating debris which is then retained in the skimmer basket. The ideal water level is about half way up the opening of the skimmer. The Skimmer is also where you attach things that require suction such as your vacuum hose or an automatic pool cleaner. Typically you will have a sort of clear plastic dome that replaces the ‘hat’ of the skimmer basket to which is attached your hose. A better way to get suction is to screw an adaptor to the outlet of the skimmer and push your hose on to that. But the latter method involves getting most of your arm wet.
