How long can my inground pool go without water?
Cool blue water

My pool is full of leaves and debris from a tree falling into it. I need to drain and clean it. How long do I have after draining to refill it?

You don't say what the interior finish is, liner, fiberglass, gunite?
If fiberglass, NEVER drain. They are known for popping up.
Where are you located?
Some areas have a high water table, in that case NEVER drain until ready to install new liner.
If concrete drain no more than a couple of days at a time.
Get as much out as you can before draining.
Hate to hear about the tree.

I have a pool full of leaves and debris from a tree falling into it. I need to drain it and clean it. How long do I have after draining?

i would not drain it completely unless you would like to spend money to purchase a new one. if there is a deep and shallow end to the pool in the shallow side i wouldn't let it get any further down than 2 in in the shallow end. if the water is a green or black ANY water can be treated and clear again. it is not impossible to fix it. just putting several several gallons of chlorine or whatever chemicals you use in your water can clear it up and follow up with some clarifier once it gets to the "milky cloudy stage"

How do I get rid of pavement ants around my pool without polluting the pool water?
Fortune is in the Green

boil your kettle and then pour the boiling water over them, no need for chemicals

how to keep pool water fresh without a pump?
Mosaic Musings

I have a 10ft x 6ft inflatable pool. It has no pump and I would like to know how to keep the water fresh so I don't have to empty it every couple of days.

Add 1/4 gallon of household bleach (non scented) and stir the water around. This will yellow the water but it will clear in 24 hours. Maintain chlorine every other day by adding 1/8 gallon.

Add 2-4 cups of baking soda to the water to maintain alkalinity. Add more as you no longer taste it in the water.

Add 1/2-2 cups of 20 Mule Team Borax to the water to buffer and maintain pH levels.

This is a very generic schedule of chemicals for a small "kiddie" pool as known in the industry.

But to be 100% accurate you would need to have a test kit to monitor the alkalinity, pH, and chlorine levels in the pool.

Ideal ranges are:
Free chlorine 3-5ppm
Total chlorine 3-5ppm
pH 7.2-7.5
Alkalinity 110-150ppm

Creature of great stealth, making almost no sound as it moves through the water.  Characterized by a textbook crawl stroke with one distinct anomaly: as the right hand is poised to enter the water, the wrist bends at a downward 90° angle to the forearm with fingers pointed straight toward the surface of the water, forming a cherry-picker or claw.  Supposedly a creature whose movements and actions are the result of meticulous calculation, judging by its unwavering application of fourteen strokes per 25 yards.  Does not speak when land-bound.

Creature of advanced age and average height, but of above average girth.  Wears swimming uniform made from one solid piece of lavendar or pink-colored cloth; wears eyeglasses on face even when half-immersed in water.  Moves slowly in shallow depths, gazing forward with a placid expression.  Characterized by arm movements reminiscent of the Grande Pose a la Vaganova (one arm to the side, the other above the head), alternating from the left to the right sides of the body and repeated for fifteen minutes at a time.

Hey, thanks for swinging by my blog.

Whether it’s breaking news, Web 2.0, public relations, marketing, start-ups or whatever, I promise to wade through the bullshit and give you my unbuffered perspective.

You’ll note I never take on a “corporate tone” — whether I’m chatting you up at a party or speaking to the CEO of a multi-billion dollar company, my voice never changes. I say what’s on my mind and I’m often the champion of the underdog. It’s how I roll.

I’m a Web 2.0 junkie and smoke Google Analytics in a crack pipe to get my day going. I hope my immersed insight and offbeat view make you laugh. More importantly, I hope you take a second and share your thoughts by posting a comment. If you have any ideas on how to make my blog better, shoot an email to kel@kelandpartners.com .

    Peace out.

Companies spend a lot of time on what their messaging should be — although truthfully, I think this is still an afterthought relative to the time they spend on the visual aspects of a brand. However, as I have stated in numerous other blog posts, in the end, the brand experience the consumer has will always say more than any words the company chooses to put in print. The company messaging can act as a catalyst to get peeps to try the brand, but if you fail to deliver on a positive brand experience, you might as well have just said “we suck” in your messaging.
