I want to build a salt water pool chlorinator for a school project it doesn't need to have the measuring functions just be able to change Salt to chlor . Can anybody tell me about the Voltage or the Current that i have to use to make the Silver&Copper to produce ions. And what kind of measuring to see how much salt was in the water before and how much chlor after is in would be best.
Thanks you for you answers.

My girlfriend and I were in a salt water pool and started rubbing against each other, pelvis to pelvis, both of us with swim suits on. Obviously I'm concerned because I released into the pool while we were messing around. Is it possible for the sperm to survive in the salt water pool long enough to find its way through both of our polyester swim suits and up into her virgin body to fertilize her egg? Please no rude comments..I've heard of it happening and just want to make sure. Thank You.
No. You may have "heard of it happening", but it has never in fact happened. Not to a virgin, not to anybody. Not in a saltwater pool, not in a chlorinated pool, not in a river, lake, or ocean, not in a bathtub or hot tub. Sperm die in water even faster than they do in air.
But if you'd had sex in the pool, the answer would be different.
I received an email from a new community pool opening in Atlanta stating the pool will be a salt-water pool. I've never heard of that before. Is this a new trend?
It's not really new, it just being marketed better the last few years.
In a nut shell a salt water pool has a salinity of between 2500- 3200 ppm. Hardly enough to be able to taste the salt in the water. Contrary to popular belief, you won't float higher than in a traditionally sanitized pool. The salt level just isn't high enough.
The salt's job is to turn into a sanitizer.
The pool water is pumped through the filtration system and heater. It then gets to the salt generator sensors and the actual cell that does the work. The salt in the water is turned into chlorine as it passes plates in the cell by electrolysis. Yep, chlorine is actually a type of salt. This then goes out to the pool and does the job of sanitizing. When it's oxidized an organic, it turns back to normal salt again and the entire process gets repeated.
These systems are actually pretty popular in new pool construction these days with about 40% of residential pools putting them in. They make the water a little softer and tend not to be so harsh on some people's skin and eyes as a traditionally sanitized pool. They can also be a heck of a lot cheaper to run than traditional methods although their initial cost is high it can usually be re couped in chemical savings after 3 years or so.

I live in Memphis, TN and am interested in converting my pool to a salt water system. In my initial research, it seems as though there are a lot of different brands...each claiming to be the best. What do I need to look for? Are they all the same? I'd rather spend a little more up front in exchange for a system that requires less maintenance.
I've worked in a pool store for a long time and if you have a salt generator you definitely want to got with either Hayward or Pentair. Hayward has a system called the Goldline that works well. There are a couple of factors you have to take in account. The initial cost of a generator is about 1000-1500 dollars. They say that you will make up the cost in not having to buy chlorine but that is not always the case. In the generator there is a cell that goes bad every 1-2 years!!!! The replacement is around 500-1000 dollars!!!!. Also, a lot of people think that if you use salt it's not chlorine. THIS IS NOT TRUE!! The salt gets turned into liquid chlorine which is unstabilized and does not last long in the water. Liquid chlorine can also affect your PH and you will be battling with that as well. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
I just bought a house with a built in pool, I am going to convert it to salt water. Everyone seems to tell me it is much less expensive to maintain than a chlorine system.
Is this correct?
What would it cost monthly to maintain the salt water pool system?
A salt water pool has a device that electrically converts salt added to the water into chlorine bleach.
Maintaining a salt water pool can be cheaper in the very very long run. However, the initial start up costs will be a lot and it will take several years before you begin saving money. Aside from the periodic addition of salt, the rest of the chemical balance is the same. You maintain the proper chlorine levels by setting the salt water generators to the setting you want. To superchlorinate/shock the pool you simply crank the dial for a period of time. Because the salt water generator makes bleach, you will need to keep an eye on the pH levels as they will migrate upwards over time.
Installation of the salt water generators will cost about $1000 for the units, add labor and other supplemental plumbing parts. Finally, the pool will require a significant amount of salt to allow the generator to function properly. Basically, look to spend several thousand dollars initially.
World#39;s Biggest Swimming Pool
The swimming pool has been named as the biggest pool in the world by the Guinness Book of Records and has since attracted millions of tourists to come and enjoy the vast lake of super clean and crystal blue water. So, you want to build your own swimming pool? Well, this pool took over five years to build and cost nearly £1billion and to top it off the annual maintenance will cost roughly £2million. OK So, you may not be able to make one yourself but you can always go over to Chile and visit this incredible example of economical engineering. The swimming pool itself does not use usual swimming pool chemicals or any sort of swimming pool heater . The makers of this swimming pool have developed a unique way to keep the swimming pool clean by recycling sea water with a complicated process of filters and cleansing. So no – They don’t just throw in loads of chlorine to keep it clean all the time! Because the weather is constantly hot they don’t have to think about covering it over in the winter or anything like this.
...Four Seasons Maui and the multimillion-dollar pool
Four Seasons Maui Resort at Wailea has just opened its $9 million Serenity Pool to rave reviews. Most of the limited complaints, in fact, came from a very specific demographic: hotel guests under the age of 21.
Strictly adults only, the 15-acre resort’s third saltwater pool was designed with a great deal of calm in mind.
“It is so quiet up there,” said Mark Simon, the property’s director of marketing. “It just adds that level of serenity and quiet that is so hard to come by, and it’s definitely a place where you can go to relax and not have to deal with Marco Polo or any of that kind of thing.”
The 4,100-square-foot Serenity Pool Terrace is home to six luxury cabanas, each occupying 160 square feet and featuring an HD TV, plush couches, oversize chaise lounges, a safe, wireless Internet access and mini-refrigerators stocked with drinks.
Nestled within a vibrant tropical garden, the pool’s infinity-edge design underscores panoramic views of the West Maui Mountains and Lanai. Two large hot tubs, along with four state-of-the-art bubble loungers, were built into the pool itself, and bathers reluctant to leave the chlorine-free water can paddle over to a swim-up bar — drier patrons are invited to frequent the terrace’s walk-up saloon.
