i have a 27 foot round above ground swimming pool and i want to heat it with solar energy can i make the water from my pool go onto the roof of my house and let it be heated by sunrays !
You can make a great solar water heater with a small 12 volt water pump which you can purchase from any RV dealer. Put the intake into the pool and connect the out side to a long length of garden hose. Lay the hose in the sun or on the roof and back into the pool. The longer the hose, the warmer the water will be.

I have a rooftop solar heater for my pool. Today, when I started pumping water through it, I saw a nice water spray coming from a hole in it. How can I plug that hole?
Is the leak in the panel or the lines to the panel?
The lines to the panel are the easy fix. Just cut the line remove any sharp edges and install a "shark bite" type of fitting per the instructions.
The panel is a little more difficult. If the tubing has movement ( only one end attached ) repair as above. If both ends are secured clean the hole with a fine wire brush or steel wool, drill a small hole, and fill with a two-part epoxy made for metal.
Pool is chemically in balance. Pool supply store tested water and said it's a "solar cloud" in the pool caused by the solar cover. Have used solar covers for over 20 years and never heard of a solar cloud. Any thoughts? Thanx a lot.
Yes, I had a similar experience. The pool place gave us chemicals, he told us to put in more Chlorine and gave us some kind of Algae stuff You may want to clean the cover as well.

I do have the debris cover and was wondering if these "solar covers" really make a big difference.Are the debris covers designed to heat the water? I have a neck injury and the gravity freedom of water is SO helpful but the temperature of the water is almost counterproductive for results. Help me finf a way to get a little warmth.
Depends on the color and the composition of your debris cover. It the debris cover is a dark color and not layered to at to provide some sort of insulation, like trapped air in a Quilt arrangement, then a solar cover will offer you little or no difference.

Generally you want a small pool pump one capable of 1/2 hp.
Normally the pool circulation pump is used since part of the water the pump circulates gets to the array and is heated then returned to the pool and the other part goes to the filter and then to the pool.
The water heater would have to be a seprate circuit since you don't want to use a heat exchanger to trade the heat. Use a small water pump for this application.
If you are asking how to power your electrical pool pump with a Photo Voltaic cell, you are dreaming. You put PV's on the roof and sell their electricity to the utility not use on your pump.

How Solar Hot Water Heating Systems Work
In general there are two types of active water heating systems: direct and indirect.
Direct Solar Water Heating
As implied, direct systems capture the sun’s heat in collectors to directly heat a household’s water supply. The system consists of collector pipes filled with water that are linked to an insulated storage tank usually located inside a home. As the sun heats the water inside the pipes, the water flows into the storage tank. Although direct systems are more efficient that indirect ones, they require more maintenance to keep the pipes clear of mineral deposits. Direct solar thermal systems also work best in warmer climates where the system is less prone to freezing.
