Help me getr the truth about salt water swimming pool treatment w/o depending on the sellering merchants.?
Fantasy Flight..

Everymerchant of the salt systems say theirs is best for any of many reasons. I want to install a salt water treatment system is it's better than the dhemical methods.

Some truths. All salt water pools still use chlorine. They utilize a salt chlorine generator. Chemically salt is sodium chloride. Sodium-salt Chloride-chlorine. All models basically are the same. They use a cell that the water passes through. The cell passes a light current through the water breaking the bond between the sodium and the chloride releasing chlorine. Salt water generators cause the pH to continually rise because the process creates carbon dioxide bubbles. This release of carbon dioxide aerates the water causing the pH rise. You still have to use all the same chemicals to treat all the other chemical factors in a swimming pool. The only thing these take care of is the chlorine level. They are very convenient because the chlorine level will remain steady and you dont have to constantly add chlorine. Chlorine is also much more expensive then salt. You just have to make sure you are keeping an eye on the pH and lower with muriatic acid when necessary.

A 40,000 gallon swimming pool using the Soft Swim method for water treatment requires about 10 pounds of?

A 40,000 gallon swimming pool using the Soft Swim method for water treatment requires about 10 pounds of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to maintain the proper alkalinity and pH at the beginning of the swim season. What will be the initial molarity of the sodium bicarbonate in the pool water?
(i will give best answer to the one who answers his thoroughly for me) please help me.

molarity is moles / L solution...

you have lbs NaHCO3 and gallons water.

so convert lbs NaHCO3 to moles.... and then assume volume water = volume solution.... then convert gallons water to liters...

10 lbs NaHCO3 x (454 g / 1 lb) x (1 mole NaHCO3 / 84.0 g NaHCO3) = 54.0 moles NaHCO3

40000 gal x (1000 L / 264.17 gal) = 1.51x10^5 L

so molarity = 54.0 moles / 1.51x10^5 L = 3.57x10^-4 M

I swim 3-4 times a week and am afraid tha the pool water may damage my long locks. Is there anything I can do before or after swimming to make sure that the chlorine water does not damage my hair. I do wear hair cap when swimming

I swim a mile 4-5 days a week. Although my hair is very short, I wash and condition it well as soon as I get home from the pool. You might try leaving the conditioner on for half an hour and then rinse it all out. That works for me.

details of ionization equipment suppliers for swimming pools

Ionizers, ozone generators, etc are all designed to work in conjunction with chlorine. Their purpose is to reduce the amount of chlorine needed-- NOT to replace it. In my experience the devices are not dependable, not efficient, and expensive to purchase and repair. And they require a LOT of repairs! Take my advice and bite the bullet on this one-- use chlorine and stay away from these gadgets. If you want chlorine alternatives e-mail me and I'll put you on to a REALLY good one. It works, it's easy, and it is relatively cheap.

  • puRE: Transforming Swimming Pools into Water Treatment Plants ...

PuRE’s strategy links individual residences to common localized resources. It integrates wastewater treatment, food production, power generation, and community infrastructure all-in-one! Able to service up to five homes per unit, puRE intakes all household wastewater and outputs clean, potable water for all to enjoy. Utilizing the principles of constructed wetlands, puRE treats wastewater through six successive purification stages. The first two stages occur within closed treatment tanks, before entering the purification cells. These purification cells contain various aquatic plants and animals which remove pollutants naturally. Small-scale food production is a by-product of this natural process, with the production of tilapia, catfish, freshwater clams, and salad greens to name a few. The solids from the wastewater stream are filtered and directed to a communal methane digester. This provides puRE the capability of generating power for its users. puRE enlivens banal suburban areas, with lush, vibrant life-systems. The system rehabilitates resource-depleting suburban icons into resource-generating community resources. puRE provides the impetus for a generation of sustainable suburban communities.

Clean Pools, Less Chlorine … With Moss? - Green Inc. Blog ...

As its license plates proclaim, Minnesota is the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Now a Minneapolis-area company says it has figured out the secret to the state’s famously crystalline watering holes: moss.

Specifically, species of sphagnum moss that the start-up, Creative Water Solutions , envisions will keep tens of thousands of swimming pools clean while drastically reducing the use of chlorine and other harsh chemicals.

The patented treatment system, which the company has sold for backyard swimming pools since 2007, underwent its first large-scale commercial test this summer at a public aquatic complex in St. Paul.

“I think this is going to have a dramatic effect and change the whole aquatic industry,” said Thomas Schaffer, a 35-year pool industry veteran hired by St. Paul to monitor the moss treatment of an Olympic-size pool and a smaller children’s pool. “We saw a one-third decline in chlorine demand for the water immediately. We’re now using two-thirds less chlorine.”
