Anyone heard/have experience with the Fleck Econominder 5600 water softener?

I've been looking for a water softener system for my new house. We're getting about 24gpg here. I got quick quoted $1700 for the 5600 Econominder 48K grain model from a local operation (walking door to door in our new neighborhood.) Looks like price on the system is about $600, so $1100 for install is quite ridiculous, so maybe there's a ton of room for negotiations. Either way, i was hoping to get some feedback on this system (vs Rayne, Culligan, etc.)

This system is great. It took about 6 hours to install as I have not done any plumbing before. After a couple of days of watter with a little bit of a gray tint the water feels and tastes so much better. Every home should have a water treatment system, and if you are looking for one around this price point, this is the one to get. It uses no salt and requires no backwash (after initial setup). Get it, you'll be happy.

My water softener isusing too much salt?

I just installed a softener a month ago, and it's gone through like 5 bags of salt.

The water in the salt tank is about a foot deep which I think is too much. What is going wrong?

It's a Fleck 5600SE.

How often do you have it set to cycle? You may be able to reduce the number of days it is regenerating and save some salt. Back off some and notice if you get a change in the water... taste, feeling harder, soap not lathering up like it was. If it gets that way and hasn't gone thru a cycle, add a day to it.

Hope this helps

Is this a good full home water filter?

I have been online and good ones cost a few 1000 and this one is only 400 and a little bigger one is 500 so it is good?

Check out the link below. This is what I have and love it. I pulled the filter part out, ran water with food coloring in it through this filter and my Brita. This water came out 100% clear, whereas the Brita did nothing.

Water softener leak 24/7?

Hi Everyone,

I notice my water softener "drain" line has water coming out of it 24/7. enough to fill a 9 once cup in a minute or so. This came to my attention after seeing the water bill in the hundreds. At the moment, i've turned the bypass valve and it stopped the leak, however I would like to fix this problem, so i can turn the water softener back on.

here is a picture

please help.... thanks in advance!

it sounds like there is a bad seal in the system. the only way to fix it is probably contacting a plumber.
